Overview

The signs are everywhere...disastrous world events. Evil rising up, unleashed upon the innocent. The prophecies were there...but no one listened. Until now. The time has come for those who can either usher in Doomsday...or prevent it. They are here. They ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

Arik Wagner, a soldier with the U.S. Army's paranormal unit, the R-XR, kissed a girl and liked it. And then he went to hell as punishment. Where he's spent weeks being tortured...and plotting revenge.

Limos, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse, isn't your average girl. She's immortal, dangerous, and her fiancé is Satan himself. In a moment of weakness, she gave in to her desire and kissed Arik, triggering her fiancé's wrath - and his claim on her. In order to save Arik, and the world, Limos must make a dangerous pact with her recently turned evil brother, Pestilence. A deal that might just cost her her soul...and her heart.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Ione’s second Lords of Deliverance paranormal (after Eternal Rider) provides a thrilling ride for readers. Limos, Satan’s betrothed and daughter of the biblical Lilith, will become a horseman of the apocalypse if, like her brother Reseph (now known as Pestilence), her seal is found and broken. At the engagement party for Limos’s brother Ares, Arik Wagner, a soldier for the U.S. army’s R-X paranormal unit, steals a kiss from Limos and is dragged down to hell, where he’s tortured until Limos helps rescue him. Their burgeoning relationship and attempts to end Pestilence’s apocalyptic threat are impeded by the lingering effects of Arik’s torture and personal demons, Limos’s shame over long-held secrets and lies, and the fight against the forces arrayed against humanity. A secondary plot involving Limos’s brother Thanatos adds more character torment while setting up the next installment. Ione balances all the angst with plenty of action, sexual tension, and dark humor. (Nov.)

    Heart pounding, amazing book!

Larissa is a wonderful writer, the way she draws you into the story is awe inspiring.. Leaves you wanting more and more. The characters come alive and you root for them, cry with them, and the sparks that fly will keep you warm at night!!! I pretty much buy the books and read them within two days, just can't seem to put them down. Can't wait to see how Than deals with his emotions and the situation. At this point I'm hating Regan, what No only means No when a woman says it?! Not happy. Hoping she redeems herself in the next one. Keep the amazing stories coming! :)

The second Lords of Deliverance romantic urban fantasy is a superb post apocalyptic thriller

As the world turns ugly, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ride once again. One brother Reseph has turned into Pestilence as his agimortus broke his seal, but another Ares was saved by his fiancée Cara Thornhart (see Eternal Rider). A third rider Limos, though she, Ares and Thanatos defeated Reseph-Pestilence for now, fears she will fall to the dark too as Satan demands she become his wife and her seal if broken frees Famine.

U.S. Army R-XR solder Arik Wagner attends the engagement party of Ares and Cara. He walks outside onto a beach to get away from super-powered a-holes, but the object of his penis follows him. Limos challenges him to fight, which leads to a kiss. His final thought was her shouting at him not to say her name. The other two horsemen explain to human Aegis leader Kynan Morgan that an angry jealous Satan has captured Arik for kissing his bride and will torture him in Hell until he says her name, which will make him one of the lost minions. Limos cuts a deal with Pestilence to save the world and Arik though her cost is her soul.

The second Lords of Deliverance romantic urban fantasy is a superb post apocalyptic thriller that grips the reader from the first apparently fatal kiss to the final confrontation. The story line is fast-paced and contains the twist of a Horsewoman as Famine. The cast is fully developed and the twisting story line is loaded with action at time fueled by betrayal. However, it is the dark world of Larissa Ione that readers will want to ride alongside of the Horsemen (and horsewoman) of the Apocalypse,

Not bad but just wanted more

I really loved the first book in the LOD series but this book was just not as good.I felt that Limos & Arik were cheated out of their story and I was too. While I love Thanos and can not wait for his story I just felt too much of this book was about him & not about Limos & Arik.

    Freaking awesome!!!

This series is amazing! The whole book flows smoothly, it is exciting, it keeps your attention, and it is refreshing from the ever popular vampire and werewolves mortal enemy story (thank you Stephanie Meyer for dragging that on FOREVER). Who knew the horesmen of the apocolypse would be an excellent paranormal subject to read about. Absolutely looking forward to finding out what happens next!!!!

    DNF Thoughts

This is a strange one for me...because I'm going to admit that I read the first book in this series and although I didn't love it...it was ok. However, perhaps because I knew that I was reading this one for review, things stuck in my craw a lot more. I felt that since it was a review book...I needed to actually read it all...no skimming like I did with the first book. Unfortunately that meant that I couldn't ignore all of the language and "incredibly steamy" scenes that this book contained. (For a liberal-I guess I can be pretty conservative when it comes to some things) Honestly I just don't remember there being as much of it in the first in the series and I felt that it was far beyond what was needed to make it believable. I also think that a huge problem for me was that I never connected with Limos at all. I didn't find her character likable in the same way that I did her brother Ares and Cara in Eternal Rider and ultimately I just had to put this one down. I know that a lot of people love this author and this series--it just wasn't for me.

    Love, love, love it!

Larissa just keeps getting better and better! Which makes waiting for each next book harder, and harder, and harder... This story is non-stop action from page 1 to the end! I never knew so much could happen in one book, but Larissa showed me..."Oh, it can!" And it did! Limos is great, Arik is hot, the brothers are in constant battle...and we get a surprise ending that will have you biting your nails off until book 3!!!

    Another horseman winner!!

Our Review [by Michelle L. Olson – LITERAL ADDICTION’s Pack Alpha]:
I love Larissa’s books, was fully hooked with the 1st installment of the Lords of Deliverance series, and couldn’t wait to see what she had in store for Limos in book #2.

Immortal Rider was, in a word, fantastic!

Immortal Rider is about Limos, the only female horseman of the Apocalypse who would become Famine should her seal break. She’s a wonderful conundrum… a legend, old as time, tough as nails immortal who is also one of the most feminine characters I have encountered with her penchant for flirty beachwear and nail polish. In her book, we get to investigate a whole other side to Limos that I really never saw coming in Eternal Rider. She’s vulnerable, and she has the weight of the world on her shoulders over things that have happened in her past.

Our hero, Arik, is a soldier in the RX-R, who also has his share of past secrets and complex layers.

As a couple, they are fabulous. They have numerous obstacles to overcome not only separately but also together, and it’s not a foregone conclusion that they will have a happy ending, which makes what they go through together all the more powerful.

The story-line of Immortal Rider is fascinating, and leads the reader through a treasure trove of characters, beautifully constructed world building and action-packed fast paced plot.

While Limos and Arik were the focal characters of the book, Immortal Rider was comprised of incredibly compelling secondary stories, as well as beautifully crafted loops back to book #1, Eternal Rider, and Larissa’s other series, Demonica.

LITERAL ADDICTION gives Immortal Rider 5 Skulls, and would recommend it to all Dark Urban Fantasy, Urban Fantasy & Paranormal Romance readers.
While Immortal Rider can be read as a stand-alone, I highly suggest at least reading the 1st book, Eternal Rider before settling in with Immortal Rider. If you’re not in a hurry to get to Immortal Rider and haven’t read Larissa’s Demonica series yet, I would actually suggest reading that first – only because it’s absolutely fabulous and you’ll get more joy out of ‘ah ha’ moments when characters from the Demonica series are looped into the Lords of the Deliverance.

    Simply Fantabulous!

I strongly suggest you read the previous books in the series (Immortal Rider) prior to reading this installment.

Larissa Ione is one of my favorite authors and really knows how to bring out the tortured soul in her characters. The heroine¿s future was so completely dismal that any hope to alter her coarse seemed futile. The plot played out so intricately with many layers packed into this one book.

I am not a fan of paranormal romance, however, the romantic parts of this book tie into the story so seamlessly that you don¿t feel like you are reading a paranormal romance novel. I had no problems plunging into this story and staying completely submerged that I hung on every word and never wanted this book to end.

For those wondering what genre this book and series falls into, I would categorize it as a paranormal romance fantasy.

I highly recommend this book to fellow dark urban fantasy readers and look forward to reading the next book Lethal Rider due out 6/22/12.

    An Exciting Paranormal!

I really enjoyed this second book in the Lords of Deliverance Series. First let me say the wonderful characters (both primary & secondary) come to life within the pages in an exciting plot with many twists and surprises. The story is a well written, NO FLUFF (what I consider unnecessary and boring text you sometimes find your self skipping through) page turner that I didn't want to put down. Exciting secondary plots have me anxiously awaiting book 3 in this series. My hat is off to Larissa Ione for her imagination and creativity. Immortal Rider was an exciting good read! If you enjoy exciting paranormal romance and don't have a problem with demons, fallen angels and such, then you definitely want to read this series.

Kind of a let down :(

I'm sad to say that I did not enjoy this book very much. I am a HUGE fan of Larissa Ione and I really enjoyed her previous books, but this one did not resonate with me, I'm afraid. I could not get into Limos and Arik's story and right when I began to, Ione would cut to another plotline and it was very distracting to me. I didn't like Than¿s character in the book that much and I feel his story may be another let down for me too! :( I might be in the minority here, but for some reason I just couldn't immerse myself in this book at all.

Love this whole series and this story didn't disappoint either. It was full of action, humor and hot, hot romance. The author does a wonderful job of connecting all the characters and making such a smooth transition into the next upcoming book.

    Such a great series!

I really love all her books; always a creative and unique story line and very well written. She has a real knack for Paranormal romance writing. The romance is always well written, and not too over the top. This book in this series, Immortal Riders, kept me wanting to keep reading until I finished it.
