    Could not put it down!

If you are trying to decide to read this series or not, don't wait! Trust me.
A job from hell is the first book in the Ancient legends trilogy. It's a fantastic paranormal story with an intricate, complete and original world-building consisting of perfect dialogues, compelling character development and many paranormal elements that include Shadows, Demons, Goddesses, Succubi, Vampires, Fallen Angels to name a few.
Amber has a wonderful character and the combination of sarcastic humor and a roller-coaster plot make the whole book one of the best ones on the market. The ending is fantastic, and something I never expected. Worth every cent!

Awesome Book...A breath of fresh air!

I really have to leave a review for this book instead of just ratings. With a word of warning: this book will make your blood pump hard and fast. It will make you laugh out loud regardless of whether you want it or not. it will make you turn page after page no matter how late it is. It will make you hyperventilate when you think you knew the answers only to find out you didn't and there was a twist. All those cravings I had: chocolate, coffee..I just felt I didn't need them as usual. What I really needed and wanted was just to read the book.
And it left me craving for more. The story was so exciting. The plot was unique with lots of twists and turns that makes you feel like if you were just to go to the toilet, you would be missing out. In each chapter something is happening. And at the end of some chapter I kept thinking " ok. have to get up early this morning, so I am going to read 10 more pages before I go to bed" instead I ended with 10 chapters. Read, read, read. That's all I did. And It felt so good.

If I had only 3 words to describe this book, it would be: witty, unforgettable and amazing. Try it for yourself. I can only say for my part, J. Scott left me a very happy reader and I would definitely be the first in the row to pick up the second book in the series.

    WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't begin to tell you how great this book is. I would have given it a higher rating , but they only have 5 stars. Jayde scott creates a fantastic world consisting of shadows, vampires, hunters, fallen angels, succubus, the fates and where there are rules coming from three courts: The Lore Cort, Layla- A semi Goddess who sets up the games every 500 years and the Shadow's Queen Deidre, a high priestess of her own kind. I never knew how amazing this book was until I started to read and got sucked in into the story. Amber is a mortal, and by accident she wins the price everyone wants and would kill her for. The love she develops for Aidan thanks to the bond was not by choice and comes with a price. Throw in the Ex Rebecca, Aidan has not yet forgotten, I feel that everything is very well developed and interwoven to a fantastic plot that keeps you addicted.
Then there is Cass, Lucifer's daughter, who loves chaos. And Angel, a Shadow's prisoner who becomes friends with Amber, and who tells her what Aidan did. It becomes all very interesting to the point that I didn't know anymore whom Amber could trust and whom not. There were twists I didn't expect. There is romance and there are quite a few surprises. I highly recommend to give this book a try. You won't be disappointed!

    Amazing YA Paranormal Romance

Warning: Make sure you have plenty of time to spend before you open this book. Because once you start reading, it's almost impossible to put down. So there goes the dinner you were cooking, the letter you were about to write, the meeting you were about to attend, etc. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I'm not a big fan of vampire romances. There. I said it. But this book was an exception. This was like... Kind of like Hunger Games meets Twilight. And this wasn't just about vampires. It also had immortal warriors, a creepy demi goddess, demons, ghosts, and fallen angels.

I fell in love with the characters. Amber was the kind of hilarious, kick-ass heroine that I love reading about. She had a strong voice, and strikes the perfect balance between fierce and vulnerable. Clare was pretty cool too, but I feel that my favorite character was Cass. She's sarcastic, funny, and dramatic - perfect best friend material. She can also read your mind, has some pretty... unusual taste when it comes to clothes, not to mention the fact that she's Lucifer's daughter and a fallen angel. Yep, Cass's pretty awesome :) My favorite male character would probably Aidan's brother Kieran (sorry Aidan). He's got a great sense of humor, and doesn't actually send out those 'I've been dead for a long time now' vibes that you kind of get from Aidan.

It had an original plot, and the author kept throwing twists and curve balls at you, keeping you guessing and reading to find out what happens next. Nothing was overly obvious, and everything seemed mysterious, suspicious. The writing was smooth, and you could easily feel everything that the characters were feeling. And, I think we should add 'Humor' to the list of genres that fit this book.

The author had me laughing most of the time. But it did have it's solemn, sad moments to it, and some of the near death experiences that the characters went through sometimes left you a little shaken.

Hands down, this has got to be one of my favorite books I've read so far. If you're looking for a romantic, adventure-filled, fun read, then I'd strongly recommend you read A Job From Hell.

(Thank you to the author for providing me with a review copy.)

    Funny, fast paced action non-stop

Every now and then comes a book I wish would never end. This was one of them. It was very funny, I've no idea how many times I actually laughed, but it was a lot. Seventeen-year-old Amber's forced to take a work placement in Scotland as a housekeeper during the summer holidays before she starts college. She needs the money and the job pays well. The house is eerie, dead. Its inhabitants, sexy Aidan, his brother Kieran and beautiful Clare, are hardly ever there, always arriving at night, if ever. Amber hates the job; she has higher aspirations but lacks the money. Her brother, Dallas, persuades her to break into a shed in the woods in the middle of the night because he claims to have spied valuable gemstones through the window. The ploy goes well, until Dallas disappears and Amber's forced to find her way through the pitch black alone while being followed by a blue light. She finds the gemstones, but someone's after her after she's just unknowingly entered a paranormal race and scooped up the first prize. Days later, strange things start to happen, like seeing people no one else can see. Aidan's suddenly starting to spend time with her, making her fall in love with him. Soon, she's exposed to an immortal world she never knew existed: a world of love bonds spun by fate, a world where demi goddesses, succubi and demon children reign, one where Shadows and vampires have been fighting to find an ancient spell book for centuries. By winning the prize, Amber's now the only one that can travel to the otherworld to retrieve the legendary book of secrets. But she's mortal, and no mortal has ever survived that journey. Who can she trust to bring her back from the dead? Sexy vampire, Aidan, who wants the book so badly but claims to have a bond with her? The Shadows, whose demon child queen feeds from her own people? Or the devil's daughter and chaos angel, Cassandra, who keeps helping Amber for no apparent reason? I'll stop here so as not to give away too much of the plot. Let's just say a lot more's going on with various subplots that intertwine at the end very nicely. There's past-paced action on every page. The writing was absolutely beautiful, the strong voices, mostly Amber but a few times we get Aidan's perspective, drew me in straight away. Amber's not a whiny girl, she's fierce but also vulnerable. Aidan, her love interest, was sexy as hell. Each character suited their purpose with plenty of hidden layers to them. No one was truly good and truly bad. I liked how the author showed their emotions, motivations and what drove them to act the way they did. A very original plot, the twists kept coming with plenty of cliffhangers. But what I liked best was the voice because it really spoke to me. From the the plot, to the characters and beautiful writing, everything drew me in and kept my attention. I was also surprised to see such good editing with no grammar or spelling mistakes in an indie book, but given that Ms Scott is also a published non-fiction author this might not come as a surprise. I hope the second book in the series will be out soon!

Don't miss out on this one!

I finished the book just this morning and I got to tell you people, you are missing out if you skip this book! The story begins with Amber who tries to move on from her ex and who takes on a summer job in Scotland as housekeeper although she is far from the domestic goddess she claims to be. There she gets involved in a paranormal race thanks to her overenthusiastic brother Dallas ( oh I love him- he is so hot!) and wins the most cherished supernatural first prize everyone wants. Even Aidan- who shares a very special bond with her- is no exception when it comes to wanting this prize.

The story is fantastic if you consider that Amber is a mortal who doesn't want the prize and refuses to be the weak woman everyone wants her to be. Her voice is absolutely- and I mean really absolutely- hilarious. I couldn't help but stop falling in love with this book

10 Reasons why you should give this book a try

    1. The world Jayde Scott creates in this book is amazing and keeps you in suspense. 2. The book is not too long and not too short- it's around 400p 3. There is nonstop action from start to finish. You'll be kept at the edge of your seat all the time. 4. You will fall in love with the characters and will have a hard time to choose whom you'd want. 5.Because of the use of British humor you'll have plenty of laughs 6. The story is original, unforgettable and one of a kind- not another Twilight clone. 7. The story takes place in Scotland, the land of seers and mystics. 8. It is inspiring: You will learn a thing or two. 9. It is beautifully written with some romance but no emphasis on sexual adult content, making it suitable for teens and young adults. I have found that many teen books do contain swearing, highly sexual (sometimes even illegal sexual contact) material which makes the book more favourable in my eyes since I don't want my kids to read too oversexed material. 10. There are various subplots which make sure that the more you turn the pages, the more interesting the plot will get. I can't believe the book costs less than 1 dollar. As it kept me on the edge of my seat at all times, I would have paid more. Having listed 10 pros, I can only ask: What are you waiting for? Give this one a try.

Fantastic for young and adult Readers!

I took a chance with this new series- and can only say I am hooked!!!! Let met give you a word of advice: save it for a quiet evening and please don't read it outside like I did in the park. People otherwise will give you the " she must be crazy" look. It made me giggle, squeak and laugh out loud (louder than I thought possible).Amber was completely amazing and she is my hero. I could completely relate to her. Her humor is just beyond belief. So don't let the cover fool you that this book is just a 'ordinary' vampire story when the story is actually about a lot of other supernatural beings too and funny as well.
Worth the money!!!!! Hope to see this someday as movie.

    Nice Surprise!

Let me say up front that this author did an excellent job with the material/theme. I was definitely caught up in the story and I LOVED her main character (Amber).

What I admire about Jayde Scott's writing style is her ability to truly capture the voice of her audience (YA) and express it in this book. The entire cast of characters is easy to relate to and very believable. Also, the author did an excellent job of balancing the action scenes with the scenes depicting romantic tension between Amber and you-know-who (no spoilers, ha-ha). Amber is a well crafted character and I think any young lady reading the book would instantly love her and root for her (I did). The author really brought Amber to life with the small details (her work ethic, the way she cooks a meal, the way she manages her emotions without being totally transparent etc).just very well done if you ask me. I give this book two thumbs up and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Read it! Devour it! Love it!

I am lost for words. This book is absolutely awesome. Truly magickal. It has everything: romance, suspense, an intricate plot and lots of humor.

When I downloaded the free sample chapters I didn't expect much, but the plot is moving very fast from chapter 2 and reeled me right in.
I couldn't help but buy it and I loved every minute of it. The ending took me by surprise, so I will definitely buy the next book of the series. I only have 6 words for this book: Read it. Love it. Devour it.

I believe that anyone at any age will enjoy reading it.

    Hilarious !!!!!!!!

Love. This. Book. I love that Amber can so easily make fun of herself. Her way of thinking is just hilarious. Too many people take life way too seriously and this book offers just a nice change from the usual boring or serious books.
For those who are not yet familiar with Jayde Scott's writing, I would not advise reading her books including the Divorce Club at work, in class or anywhere that is unacceptable for you to burst out in gut-wrenching laughter.

    Edge-of-your-seat book- for adults too!

I am a mother and my daughter gave me this book to read and I must confess I got hooked. This may be written for younger folks, but adults should not dismiss it: from the first page, this book catches you and reels you in. Every chapter left me hanging, down to the last one. I can't wait to see how the story enfolds in the next book of the trilogy.

    Coudn't turn pages fast enough

This was an amazing, thrilling F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C. READ.
You can't turn the pages fast enough! You must read this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Worth every cent and more!

99 cents is an incredible price for a book. To be honest I expected a novella, or something around 80-150 pages as it was so cheap. To my surprise I found it had over 420 pages overflown with action that will suck you right in making you lose track of time. I found myself turning page after page and when I finished, I was tempted to read some chapters all over again since I enjoyed some of the quotes so much. Never in my life did I laugh so hard!
For 99cents you cannot go wrong with this story and if this sounds at least a bit interesting to you, I think you should give it a shot.

    Glued to my seat!

OMG. I absolutely LOVE A job from hell. It's awesome! Don't let the price fool you. You get here a superior book at an excellent value and one that will keep you biting your nails until the very last page!
I am so glad I gave this one a try because it turns out to be one of the greatest books I have read that will leave you begging for more. The book has taught me an important lesson: you cannot choose whom to love. Love chooses you. And sometimes at the wrong time and the wrong place. Will now buy the second book.

Suspenseful and amazing - Jayde Scott at her best!

Holy hell. I was captured on the first page. I don't do spoilers in my reviews and, in fact, I don't generally do lengthy reviews either. Amber's humor and her way of dealing with a " boring" housekeeping job immediately pulled me in. I was there with her, readily willing to fight alongside the heroine. Her character is just refreshing. Forget typical love romances where the heroine gets all wobbly and weak. Forget long drawn out plots or uninteresting characters.
A job from hell was a mystery. Every time I thought I had some small piece of it figured out, it would all get twisted around all over again. There was always a new curve-ball being thrown, and a new discovery being unveiled. The ending was jaw dropping. There is nothing predictable here. I loved that my mind got some workout. Would I recommend it? Yes, without one single doubt. You will love it and for a 99 cent book, I honestly don't think anyone can go wrong.

    Unforgettable, Thrilling, a Must Read

This book is Top Notch. It's edgy, emotional, thrilling, exciting, suspenseful and unforgettable. I loved how the story was written from the perspective of Amber (a mere mortal) and Aidan ( a vampire and hunter) and it helped me to see the paranormal world through their very different eyes and watching them changing and developing. In overall, it is great that there are so many characters and other supernatural beings such as fallen angels, demons and shadows. It creates a rich reading experience with a plot that is original and captivating. Jayde Scott did an excellent job in creating a poignant and deeply moving novel, which I didn't want to end. I am very pleased and can only recommend it if you want a fast moving urban fantasy filled with intense action.

Loved it - especially for $0.99

I read a lot of reviews and I was skeptical when I started reading this book that is targeted for the younger generations but I thought ok it is only .99, give this new author a try. What the Heck! The book is fantastic!!! The writing is excellent. I could not stop reading it. I did not stop till I was finished. This book is good for serious readers, both teens and adults alike. Having read the whole book I can give this book 5 star rating with full confidence.
