Overview

2016 Reprint of 1908 Edition. This guide offers a modern interpretation of Hermetic doctrine, distilling its teachings into seven compelling principles that can be applied to self-development in daily life. For centuries, the legendary Egyptian man-god Hermes Trismegistus - regarded as the father of astrology, alchemy, and other magical arts - inspired writers and readers of occult literature. In 1908, the anonymous authors known as "Three Initiates" prepared this concise and engaging edition of the master's teachings. It outlines the Hermetic principles and then examines them in depth, offering direct quotations from the source material, followed by clear explanations. The best introduction to Hermeticism for beginners and adepts alike, this definitive edition of one of esoteric literature's classics explores principles relevant to any religious, spiritual, or magical tradition.

When I first read reviews about this book before I ordered it I was very excited. As I began reading I was cautious not to jump to conclusions and make assumptions too quick because I really wanted this book to sink in. It is divided by the principles and clearly explains each one in depth. I read it in less than a couple days and trust me, you will need to reread it again and pace yourself for the effectiveness because it does require pondering. This is not just a book you read and are done with, because I have looked back in many parts of it multiple times. This truly is a mind opener and extremely enlightening. I'm going to get my hands on more books about Hermeticism because it has intrigued me and is a grand book to discuss with those who are ready to learn.

The original manuscript or information is centuries old. The original was quoted to the reader to assert their own interpretations. The book is a hard read due to the nature of the subject and the adherence to the old thought styles. However, it is a must read for readers exploring spirituality and metaphysics. Several other authors have addressed the same information in easier to grasp language; however, like other manuscripts, the bible can be interpreted quite differently when translating from several different languages and periods of understanding. This book will remain in my library as a reference to refer back to as other books refer to the Universal Laws. This book was also referenced to in Dan Brown's novel, The Lost Symbol.

A difficult to find mystical book by The Three Inititiates. If you have studied The Secret Doctrines you will like this little work based upon the world-old Hermetic Teachings. Helps student to reconcile many bits of occult knowledge.
