The books is pretty and has lovely photos of very cute pups and dogs- many the standard of the breed. There are sections that are undoubtedly boiler plate sets of information from either other books or from articles about dogs generally. There is very little information specific to the breed. And most disappointing are some disparaging assertions about the breed that have no references to support them.

I got this book shortly after getting a 6 week old puppy. It is extremely informative and covered all the subjects I needed, such as feeding, discipline, training, and everything I needed to be prepared to raise my puppy into a well-behaved dog. I especially appreciated the topics of foods that are dangerous to dogs and different behaviors to watch for to spot medical problems. A great book that covers the life and lifestyle of the dog.
