Overview

When Jane Elliott was four years old, the nightmare began. She became the helpless victim of a sociopath—bullied, dominated, and sexually abused by a man only fourteen years her senior: her stepfather. For nearly two decades she was held prisoner, both physically and emotionally. But at the age of twenty-one she escaped . . . and then she fought back.

The Little Prisoner is the shocking, astonishing, and ultimately uplifting true story of one woman's shattering twenty-year ordeal—and how she triumphed against an evil and violent human monster when honesty and bravery were her only weapons.

Meet the Author

Jane Elliott is a pseudonym. The author first decided to tell her story to the police after taking inspiration from Dave Pelzer's powerful memoir A Child Called It and becoming convinced that she could no longer remain a silent victim of the stepfather who had kept her a virtual prisoner for so many years.

Saddest book I have ever read

I recently finished this book. Jane's story will stay in your mind long after you have read the last page. I read "a child called it" by Dave Pelzer, I could not have imagined a child going through worse than that until I read this book. I recommend reading this..it will definitely open your eyes and teach you anything is possible to over come. I admire Jane and her bravery. There were times while reading this that I had to put it down and take a breath to continue reading it again...at times it was just too much to even imagine. Get your tissues ready when you begin to read the story of this remarkable woman.

    why?

how can someone do this to a child... people who know that something bad is happening to a child and do nothing about it are just as guilty as the abuser... people that don't beleive these children when they finally get the courage to tell are just as bad as these monsters......

    Worth reading

Great book, I definitely recommend this to child abuse survivors. Its too bad the author had to disguise her name.

    wow

this book was very shocking and sad. this little girl was tortured by her stepfather for 17 years and even now, with her stepfather in jail, this mess isn't over because her stepdad's family and her own stepbrothers are trying to do what they did to anyone who would have sent them to jail- silence them one way or another. but this woman is so brave because she stopped her stepfather from doing that to anyone else.

    Great Book

I was really astonished with how it ended. Men usually protect women not other men. Goes to show you how far people are susceptible to being brainwashed.

Unbelievable... I am so proud of this author for telling her story! She has made other victims stronger just for having her own courage. A must read!!

    Wow!!!

I started out liking this but then I began to wonder in what world does law enforcement allow someone as monstrous as Richard to be able to get away with as much as he did? I don't want to take away from the victims but really? All these people were that intimidated by this family? Are they Mafia? Also, the books' ending was REALLY disappointing....what happened to those people???

This is a very heart wrenching story. I believe there are so many similar accounts and it's terrible to think and know it is true.

Sad and difficult to comprehend this could happen

This poor child!!! What a horrific life all at the hands of a monster. I was sitting in suspense the entire time waiting for a light and a savior to help save this poor poor woman. A true hero and amazingly strong woman to have come above it all and speakout against her abusers and to share her experience with the world.

Here's to her living a productive and truly happy life with her amazing new family in the future.

This book was sooooooooo sad!!!!!!!! It makes u thibk of how maany things go on withoutus even second guessing it!!! I,janey is so right the world needs to know the truth. The only bad thing i could say was that it desxribed her life just straight out with not much detail towards the end like when sophie wasborn it just said she was born but other than that i would hifhly rexommend it if u want to hear a sad story of a poor little girl

    Little Prisoner

This is without a doubt one of the most heart felt books I have ever read. I will never forget the strength that it must have taken for her to write this book. I cant imagine how a child that was raped from the time she was four to twenty one could have the will and the courage to write something with such spirit and passion.

I finished reading this book in the late hours of the night and I cant seem to find sleep after reading something so disturbing and painful. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone that wants to hear the truth about what abuse could do to a child. I will never forget this book. This book is so filled with emotion that I cant cry. The pain is to horrible for me to weep and satisfy Richard-her rapist-.

If anyone is going to read this novel dont take it lightly. It is a true story that I hope will help many people to come as the authur does as well. It took her seventeen years to speak up about her childhood and I hope that for another child it will take less time for the sake of them.

I'am glad that I have never been effected by such abuse, but this book helps me realize even more that it is out there. Even on the other side of the world.

Speaking the truth is worth fighting for.

    I loved it!

I couldnt put this book down. I was in total disbelief. I was shocked to learn this carried on as a child all the way until she was a full grown addult. All that she put her husband threw he has to be a strong man. Books like this really opens my eyes.:(
