I thought this was a different type of romance. The hero was not a warrior, He was just a young man who was a little excentric. That is what made this book a nice love story.I don't always have to have a steamy sex in a book to make it a nice to read. The other books have an nice excentric loving father, why not a hero.

I howled in laughter at the antics of the male and female leads in this books. Really it appears to be more real than a majority of romance novels out there with the perfect alpha male. The book occasionally flounded with siiliness but it was a fun afternoon read

I get so tired of "heaving bosoms" and "strapping muscles"; this book is about an attractive old maid who is the unwitting butt of a cruel wager.
The hero is not a pansy, but someone who has always been lucky and never had to deal with unforseen trials.
This book is a what all love stories should strive for: humor, overcoming obstacles, a sympathetic villain and true love eventually prevailing.

I thought the heroines were refreshing and more realistic. Edmunds OCD and Priscilla's insecurities made them, in my opinion, an ideal match. And even though the Duke was a cad you kind of end up feeling sorry for him. Most romances are predictable. Of course they are. That's why we love them. We want to root for the under dog. We want true love to win over all. Thanks for sharing.

Its a very sweet (and chaste) story, I would recommmend it to pass a lazy afternoon. For free you cant beat it, but having read romance of all kinds for so long I found it wanting a little heat! ;)

I'd hate to think that in real life, the Lords & other "gentlemen" would have their way with the wenches and force a woman to marry, without love. The villain is that way. Even the good guy didn't have 2nd thoughts of prior sexual encounters with whomever would "warn his bed."
Strange story but it was free.

Don't waste your time with this book. Glad it was a freebie. Only reason I didn't give it one star is I reserve those for the ones that are so bad I erase them totally!!! Story was boring, characters were very improbable and ending was horrendous.

The story was a good read but I found the author made Edmund into too much of a wuss.

Although a predictable love story, I enjoyed this romance.

This book was thankfully free. While the story was good and I enjoyed it, I never really connected with Lucky. He's kind of arrogant, but naive at the same time and this discrepancy didn't work for me. By arrogant I mean he never seemed to think that anything could ever go wrong for him and everyone else was always at fault.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I am an avid romance reader and there are few books that I struggle to finish but this book was definitely one of them. The "hero" is anything but. The entire time I spent reading this book I was looking for that elusive quality that makes you fall in love with the character. It never came, in the end all the hero was was a pathetic pansy that I just felt sorry for. I also felt sorry for the heroine for having to be stuck with him!

Nice historical romance. I just wish the male main character wasn't such a pansy. He really needed to stop blubbering so much. Overall, good book for a rainy day.
