Amazing Humor & Writing!
My Review:
There are actually 2 full books which are separate stories in this book. I have reviewed them below as separate books.
Christmas Pride: A+
This was the first Shelly Laurenston I have ever read, but it absolutely will not be my last. OMG, I loved this book!!! Shelly is an amazing writer. This book was so funny and witty without being obviously so. It's so naturally done. I really, really loved it.
This series is the Pride series, featuring the Lion Pride. This first book features Mace Llewellyn, a lion shifter, ex-SEAL, and all-around sexy guy. He was definitely one of those characters that you wish that you could meet. At his heart, he's a cat. He's fairly laid-back and nonchalant about things, but when he gets riled, Watch out! He is the king of the Beasts. He's a wonderful shifter character.
The heroine is Desiree, Dez. She is an NYPD investigator and is investigating a murder within the Pride. As a former Marine, she is tough in her own right. She raises and trains police dogs...yes, she's a dog person, not a cat person. She has tons of guy friends, but hasn't really dated anyone since her divorce. It's simply not worth the time. She and Mace were friends, really good friends in high school, but they lost touch when her family moved to another part of NYC. Mace has always loved her and since he just got out of the military, has a PI looking for her. Luckily, he didn't have to look far when he finds her at the Pride house his first night home. Oh, and yes, Dez is human with no idea about Shifters.
There are so many things to love about this book:
*Dez's dogs- she has two police-trained rottweilers. Anytime Mace is in the house, they hide under the bed. One of the absolute funniest scenes in the book is when Dez asks Mace to go walk the dogs and pick up after them...OMG, I was rolling!
*the whole Shifter community- normally the different types of animal shifters don't mix, but Mace has been serving with a Shifter group in the SEALS so he is used to working with other animals. His best friend and soon-to-be business partner is a wolf...part of a Pack that considers Mace to be one of their own even though he is a lion.
*all of Mace's animal characteristics are incredible. He sniffs Dez constantly and purrs when she rubs her fingers through his hair. He roars when he comes and can show his fangs and claws at will. Those elements tend to come out at really funny times throughout the book.
*OMG, the sex is HOT in this book...and there is a TON of it. Dez & Mace are VERY passionate, so be ready!
*I really loved that neither Mace nor Dez get along with his sister. There were some hilarious scenes with them simply giving her a really hard time.

Shaw's Tail: A-
I didn't like this book quite as much as the first book, simply because I couldn't relate to the heroine, Ronnie, as well as I did the heroine in the first book. But this book had just as much humor and charm as the first one and I definitely still really enjoyed it.
Ronnie is a southern gal who has just transferred to NYC. All the members in this pack seem to have a Lee after their name. Ronnie Lee, Bobby Lee, Sissy Lee...and they all have the southern attitudes to match their names which grated on me after a bit. Ronnie is a wolf and she has just turned 30 and decided that it's time to grow up and change her wild ways. Unfortunately, hooking up with a sexy lion shifter falls under the heading of th
