Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jodell Sadler
Readers interested in fast-action, a child hero who defies the odds and battles bad guys on dangerous missions few would dare, will love this third book in Muchamore's "CHERUB" series. This middle grade title is about a dangerous mission that places James in a Maximum Security Prison, with the goal of tracking down a drug ring run by one inmate's mother. To accomplish this mission, James must break out of a prison that no one has ever escaped from alive, and let this inmate lead him back to his mother for the bust, but that is not all. This mission is so dangerous and difficult that James will need the assistance of a senior agent, Dave, if he is to accomplish it at all. In this branch of the British Intelligence, CHERUB agents are children between the ages of ten and seventeen that are highly-trained, extremely talented, and mostly orphans, who have been selected to train for secret undercover work; but in this mission, James finds himself alone anyway, as Dave must leave after a week in solitary leaves him potentially wounded for life. During this mission, James comes up with a way to leave the cell block, sneak by video surveillance, make it past the guards, and across town thanks to his little sister, age ten, behind the wheel. Meanwhile, Lauren has earned the right to drive thanks, in part, to her outstanding bravery during her training. This title, like other titles in this series, also serves up loads of everyday teen drama. For more on this series, readers can go online and visit Cherubampus.com/USA. I Also Recommend:

Excellent series, buy all six novels!!!

Robert Muchamore does an excellent job keeping the readers attention in this series. I work at an alternative high school and many of my students "Hate to read books." Several of my high school students have read the entire series, usually in less than two weeks, and their only complaint is that there isn't a book seven in the series! Excellent series to have for students that are reluctant readers, I had no problem getting them to read books written by this author. I too enjoyed these books, very well written and definitely engaging.
