Barnes & Noble
Canadian crooner Michael Bublé makes an auspicious debut, showcasing his mellifluous voice and classic-pop sensibilities. The twenty-five year old arrives under the auspices of Paul Anka himself, who helped choose tunes for Michael Bublé, including his own "Put Your Head on My Shoulder." While his smoldering looks and swinging tempos suggest a new-model Harry Connick, Bublé has more pop appeal than the New Orleans heartthrob, offering renditions of songs by the Bee Gees and George Michael. Appearances on the Today show and the daytime soap Days of Our Lives, where he portrayed himself, should draw plenty of eyes -- and ears -- to this young talent.

All Music Guide - Aaron Latham
Unlike most young guys who gravitate towards the latest rock or rap trend, Michael Bublé chose to study the classic works of pop vocal masters like Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra while slowly developing his own technique and career as a vocal interpreter. Thanks to producer David Foster, the 25-year-old Bublé has graduated to the big time with a self-titled debut disc that shows off his knowledge and appreciation for a style of music that is mostly unfamiliar to his generation. Swinging his way through a set of pop standards both classic "The Way You Look Tonight", and more recent "Moondance", Bublé already possesses a quality that reaches beyond his youthfulness, with a voice that incorporates his influences into a sound that is fresh yet familiar. When he launches into a standard like "Come Fly With Me," images of Sinatra are conjured up; but as the song progresses, the listener realizes that this is not Sinatra, or Bobby Darin, or any other famous vocalist. It is someone who has learned the art of popular song and is creating his own colorful music from shades of the past. In doing so, Bublé throws a fresh coat of paint on an old standard like "Fever," and gives it a satiny sheen that the song hasn't seen in years. In addition to revitalizing the classics, he draws in a younger audience by covering more recent, rock-era songs in a swinging gloss. Songs like George Michael's "Kissing a Fool" or Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" are jazzed up even further than their retro-based originals, and flow easily alongside the standards. The only interruption comes when Barry Gibb guests on his own "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart," with a reverb-laced vibrato that simply does not fit in this musical environment. Throughout the disc it is apparent that Bublé has done his homework and aced the test, but there is always room for improvement. Sinatra haunts his vocals a bit too much on songs like "Summer Wind," and there are moments throughout the disc when he forces his technique instead of following a natural cadence, but these minor criticisms will improve with time; and nothing can really diminish the sheer pleasure and joy he expresses in each performance. He sounds absolutely thrilled to be singing these songs, and that goes a long way in making Michael Bublé an exciting debut.

    Great Music Lives!

Michael Buble' has mastered the art of bringing great music, that has been in hibernation, back to life with a breath of fresh air.
The constant combination of great songs and production, excellent musicians, and of course his genuine interpretivie performance, makes this music come to life. Generations old and new are shaking the musical dust off and enjoying some of the best and most memorable music written.

    An Extraordinary Singer

Michael Buble is a moving singer. I get goose-bumps everytime I hear him sing. He is bringing back the classic sound of music for this generation to enjoy, which I think has been a long time coming.

    Wow

All I can say is wow. This is the man that made me fall in love with the Big Bands sound. He reminds me a lot of Bobby Daren and Frank Sinatra, his voice is smooth, jazzy and very strong.

    If I didn't know better....

I'd swear Buble was Sinatra reincarnated or at least he'd gotten Sinatra's voice pipes implanted in his throat! He's incredible, as good as Old Blue Eyes himself, may he rest in peace!

    I love Michael

Michael has a way to just make every song irresistible, and he has made himself irresistible as well. His voice is amazing, and the songs he made are as well.

    A Wonderful Talent!

I absolutely love Michael Buble's voice. It harkens back to the days when Frank Sinatra made the girls swoon. This is a wonderful album in which Buble gives his own touches here and there. The song choices are also wonderful. It also helps matters that he's cute because when I listen to it in my car, I feel like he is singing to me. A great addition for any fan of those great voices from yesterday.

    Smooth....

Beautiful voice, wonderful talent, romantic music, jazzy arrangement! Michael's second CD, It's Time, is even better if that's possible. See this man in concert if you get a chance - what a great show!

Rebirth and Tribute to the Greats

Buble is an amazing singer who reminds me of the people and era of Sinatra, Ella, Goodman, etc. My father got me hooked on the big band/jazz tunes. I will end up out playing this CD. I can't help but sing and sway to this music.

    halelujah!

not only has michael got the velvety tone, but he can swing it with a joy that i'd previously only ever heard from ella fitzgerald! you can really hear that he's loving every minute of every song! truth be told, i haven't got much patience for the newer sultry diana krall stuff, and this is the great true jazz alternative. stop putting it in the easy listening section! i've been a huge ella fan since i was twelve and told that i myself was good at singing jazz, and i just love how i'm not alone in my real jazz aspirations! michael made it, and he will be here forever, because music this great can never die! get the cd!!

    Absolutely Fabulous!

This is one of only a few CD's that I have enjoyed from beginning to end. Usually I am fighting the urge to skip through and find my favorite songs, but Michael Buble is wonderful and I could listen to his voice everyday without becoming tired of it. I'm an instant fan!

The best CD of the year

I love Michael's voice and the way he is able to make these songs his own. Got to see him on the Today show and on the Dateline interview. Not only is he talented, he has a genuine love of family and an excellent personality with a nice sense of humor thrown in.

A Marvelous Sound - Check It Out

Michael has his own style and has a marvelous sound. That jazz added to the standard songs makes it very special and you can tell by the sound that they have their heart and soul into making it special. Michael's voice is the mellowness of Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra combined and the style he uses updates all of the standards he sings. Go Michael Go. - Come to Philadelphia!

Ole Blue Eyes has left the building but Buble` has arrived!

Wonderful voice, makes the old heart smile and remember when music was music. It is my hope that there will be many discs of Michael Buble` available. I thank his grandfather for pushing the lad into music, a great gift for those who want a good vocalist to entertain us.
