    Getting your life back

"Dr. Jackie" opens a whole new world of possibilities and hope for the pain sufferer. She makes a credible, compelling case for the mind-body connection---the impact of thought on pain and well-being. From there, her tools for tackling pain are easily grasped and implemented, even for people with limited mobility. This globally respected pain specialist has the warmth and compassion of a woman who is intent on the world discovering the amazing power of the mind to enhance healing and relief.

The book offers fascinating insights into the true origins of many kinds of pain. Your upbringing, whether you are "sensitive" or "stoical", and "body memory" of emotional trauma all factor into today's experience of pain. With knowledge and understanding of the roots of pain that go beyond obvious injury, great relief can follow.

I've used Jackie's guided meditations for several years, and had the great luck of taking a class full of doctors lead by Jackie when she was first sharing her learning with her peers. I've seen first hand the transformative power this had on doctors in the class that suffered from chronic pain themselves; living "mindfully" has improved the quality of my life and I'm delighted that this book, filled with all the proven techniques of her classes, can now help so many people.

From the person looking for help managing stress to the person who has suffered from crippling pain for years, this book is a guide to getting your life back.

    ---Nancy Vonk
