Overview

Now a major motion picture from Sony, starring Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah—Miracles from Heaven is the true story of one little girl, her journey to heaven, and an amazing story of healing.

Annabel Beam spent most of her childhood in and out of hospitals with a rare and incurable digestive disorder that prevented her from living a normal, healthy life. One sunny day when she was able to go outside and play with her sisters, she fell three stories headfirst into an old, hollowed-out tree. Implausibly, she survived without a scratch. While unconscious inside the tree, with rescue workers struggling to get to her, she visited heaven. After being released from the hospital, she defied science and had inexplicably recovered from her chronic ailment.

A remarkable family drama and uplifting, hope-filled memoir, Miracles from Heaven will change how we look at the world around us. Includes discussion guide.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"Miracles from Heaven is a powerful, healing story about family, love, faith, and hope. It amazed me and it will inspire readers everywhere."—T.D. Jakes, bestselling author of Destiny"

The book kept me up all night. It was so compelling and tangible. [Christy's] pain, the daughter's pain, what it did to the family... One of the great gifts of the movie was the perspective that came with it."—Jennifer Garner, as featured in Vanity Fair

The hardest thing for any parent is watching your child suffer and knowing there isn't anything you can do to help. That is the life that Christy and Kevin Beam witnessed for years as their daughter Annabel was diagnosed with a devastating digestive disease for which there is no cure, and would likely claim her life in the very near future. So for them, they never knew when Annabel's final day would come, so they did what most parents would do, is to try and make the remainder of those days the very best they could be. Annabel's faith in God was always strong, despite the many tests, trials, medications, surgeries and lengthy hospitals stays she had to endure, she remained as strong as any child could. She held on to her faith in God. Being the middle daughter, her life was challenging at best. Sitting back watching others enjoy food was a luxury Annabel couldn't afford. Just taking a bite of food could set her in the hospital for obstructions in her intestines, and as you know, people celebrate life with food as part of life. How hard for a child to watch people open their stockings filled with candy and have to hand it over to others to enjoy. But the Beams would never know how a seemingly innocent day turned into a nightmare and would forever change the outcome for Annabel's life. An aging cottonwood tree on their property with a gaping hope thirty feet up in the air would trap Annabel as she fell head first into the black hole while her sisters watched in horror. Had they not been present, who knows if anyone would have found her. Annabel's claims that during the time she remained trapped into the darkness of the tree, she went to Heaven where Jesus assured her, it was not her time to come home despite her many pleas to her parents to "let me got to Heaven with Jesus where there is no pain." What follows can only be a series of miracles for the lives of the people who were a part of this life changing rescue. I received Miracles from Heaven by Christy Wilson Beam compliments of Howard Books, a division of Hachette Book Groups for my honest review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for a favorable review and the opinions found here are strictly my own. I've read quite a few books about visitations to Heaven, and we may never know what exactly happened in Annabel's life, but what happened afterwards is truly miraculous. This is the memoir of Annabel's life up to the point where this accident happened and how God worked in the life of this family is bound to make even the harshest critic a believer. A truly inspirational true story of one little girl and her journey to heaven and her amazing story of healing. Well worth 4.5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

You might be thinking the same thing I did when I first saw this book, “Another I-went-to-Heaven book?” Yep, I thought that and almost passed on the opportunity to review it. I’m so glad I didn’t. Although, yes, Christy’s daughter did go to Heaven the focus on the book isn’t on that. Only a tiny bit is mentioned. The focus is more on the blessings and God’s goodness. Something about this book drew me to it day after day. I couldn’t wait to read it and see what happened. It is truly an amazing story of healing. A Genesis 5020!! This fall could have killed Anna but instead God healed her and now she is sharing that hope with others. I actually enjoyed reading this even more than Heaven is for Real. The narrative is beautiful and I loved Christy’s writing voice. There were times I was brought to tears as I read. I worry so much about my kids but we have never had to deal with a sickness like Anna has had to deal with. Overall, I was just amazed how God used this little girl falling into a tree for bring Himself glory. Isn’t He over-the-top? Wow. If you’re looking for a good non-fiction book this is a great one I highly recommend. A copy of this book was given to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

At five years old, Annabel Beam was diagnosed with two incuracle disorders: pseudo-obstruction motility disorder and antral hypomotility disorder. The disorders were life-threatening, and Annabel was constantly in and out of the hospital. But at age nine, another horrific event occurred: while Annabel was climbing a tree, she fell thirty feet inside that hollow tree. A fall like that could easily paralyze or kill someone, but Annabel was unharmed. While she was unconscious, she saw a glimpse of Jesus and Heaven, and afterwards, her disorders miraculously went away. The biographical book chronicling Annabel’s story, Miracles from Heaven: A Little Girl, Her Journey to Heaven, and Her Amazing Story of Healing, is written by Annabel’s mother, Christy Wilson Beam. It’s an amazing story; Annabel went through a terrible medical ordeal, and had a horrific accident, but God still had wonderful plans for her. The book is well-written, and story is presented in a beautiful and captivating manner. Miracles from Heaven is a great book for mothers, Christians, or anyone who wants to read this miraculous story. Beam’s writing is uplifting, and the book is definitely a page-turner. If you want to be encouraged and inspired, I definitely recommend reading it. Annabel and her family went through so much, yet Annabel (and Christy) demonstrated amazing strength and courage. I wish there were more books like Miracles from Heaven! I received a review copy from Shelton Interactive.

You give me your email and we can chat okay?? Anyway...this is an amazing book tha will melt the heart of anyone who has read it. Once you read it you will see the world through a totally new set of eyes. If you are not religious then i strongly encourage you to either visit a church, or talk to someone who is religious. I know that I personally would love to talk with you. My name is Sydni. I am 16 years old and have a heart tha is on fire for te Lord. Everyday i pray to god and then i kno in my heart of hearta tha whaever i tell him or ask o him, that he has my back no matter what and just remember that whatever challenges you are facing in your life, whether you tell him or not, God knos and cares. He waks up every single morning and just sits in a chair and waits for you to talk to him. So do it talk to him. He is the best listener ever. But if you dont remember anything else, just remember that GOD HAS THIS!

Author Christy Beam tells the inspiring story of her daughter, Annabel, who suffered from a chronic , debilitating disease and is now cured. What tugs on the reader’s heartstrings isn’t the fact modern medicine has Annabel – faith has. Annabel is 9. She suffers from pseudo-obstruction motility disorder, making it near impossible to live a normal life. The Beams have adjusted, doing their best to give Annabel the best quality of life she can have. One thing never wavers – their faith. When a freak accident puts Annabel in danger of severe spinal injuries, the adults in her life wonder how much can a little girl deal with before her spirit begins to lose hope? Will “one more thing” be too much for Annabel and her family to endure? Beam’s writing styles engages the reader. She’s honest and sincere and a lot of readers can sympathize with the emotional  struggles of being a mother to a child with a disability/disorder. The narration jumps often between events which can be confusing to the reader. Overall, “Miracles From Heaven” is an inspirational story that will resonate with readers.
