Excerpt:

"Lady Angelique! Come back, sweeting!" ancient Lord Chatsworth called.
Sacrebleu! Angelique Drummagan rushed down the corridor, eased open a door and slipped inside a dark drawing room, one of many within the maze of Whitehall Palace. She prayed Chatsworth would pass by. He fancied himself her suitor and did naught but drool on her hand every time he was near.
Heavy breathing and moans sounded from across the room. She turned and froze, her eyes searching the near darkness. Who was here? Only the shifting moonlight glinting off the Thames provided any illumination, revealing chair backs and settees.
A high-pitched giggle pierced the air from several yards away, in the vicinity of a sitting area near the cold hearth.
"Shh."A long moment of silence stretched out, broken by sounds of kissing.
"King James wishes her brought before him forthwith," a muffled male voice said outside the closed door.
"She vanished in this passage," Chatsworth said.
A pox upon the old lecher! And the king, too. Angelique crept across the Turkish carpet and slid behind the brocade window drapery.
"Ooh, I'm impressed with your swordplay skills, my laird." Lady Eleanor's voice, breathy and excited, shattered the quiet of the room. She was the one moaning and giggling?
The harlot.
"I'm not a laird, but I do thank you for the compliment."
A Highlander? Angelique would recognize that tongue-rolling speech anywhere.
She had never known Eleanor, countess of Wexbury, to dally with anyone below a viscount. What was she doing with a barbarian? That's what her mother—God rest her soul—would've called him, or any Scot. And Maman should know; she'd been married to one.
Eleanor cried out with carnal pleasure. Angelique's face burned hot. She couldn't comprehend how a woman found pleasure in the act. Never again would she entrust her body and heart to any man. Since men were naught but faithless pigs, she knew she only had duty before her, not happiness. Not love. That had been a foolish child's dream.
Eleanor gasped for breath and the Scot made a growling noise. The height of pleasure, some said. Surely the French term le petit mort—the little death—was more accurate. Nausea gripped Angelique even as shocking excitement quickened her heart beat. A dark, hidden part of her wondered… No, never again. I cannot marry and be subjected to a man's lust. She pressed trembling fingers against her throat and found it damp with perspiration.
The door opened and lamplight reflected off the white walls.
"Lady Angelique?" Dryden's nasal voice echoed through the room. He was the most vexing of the king's courtiers.
The two lovers became silent.
"I know you're in here. I heard a noise."
From her position behind the draperies, she noticed the light moving across the floor.
A thump sounded, then rustling.
"Sir Lachlan? What in Hades are you…?"
"I was but…resting," the Scot said.
"Have you seen Lady Angelique?"
"Nay."
"Dryden, the lamp, if you please," Chatsworth said.
"What is it?"
In the silence, the light shifted again, growing brighter as it moved in her direction.
Mon Dieu, do not let them find me, s'il vous plaît. Angelique's pulse roared in her ears. She detested Chatsworth, and now, to be discovered lurking about in a dark room while a Scot coupled with a lady harlot would be exceedingly mortifying. They might even accuse her of spying on them.
Dryden yanked the drapery aside.
"Parbleu!" Angelique blurted and pressed a hand to her mouth.
Dryden sent her a vile grin. In the background, Chatsworth scowled, then shot a murderous glance at the man they'd called Sir Lachlan, who stood in a darkened corner.
Where had Eleanor crawled away to? Angelique couldn't see her beneath the carved furniture in the dimness.
"You and Sir Lachlan?" Dryden snickered.

I've described myself as a Vonda Sinclair junky. It's true. These books just get better and better. This one is multi-layered with conflict that keeps the reader riveted to the very last page. If possible, this is Vonda's best book yet. What I loved most (besides that cover I could stare at for hours)? Not being forced to read those awful last two words: "The End". Still and all, she's left me shouting, "I want more!"

I fell for Lachlan and all of his charm, he is a true highlander hero. This is a story with twists and turns and a great romance between two that are nothing alike. ...you have to read this one and find out how one lady named Angelique changed a rake's ways. The catch is who really changed who. Yep, there is somewhat of a twist to this story if you read the fine lines...at times it’s so hot your fanning yourself. I recommend this story for any historical highlander romance reader to try.

Once again Ms. Sinclair hit it out of the park with this story. From the classy way she told the love story of Lachlan MacGrath and Lady Angelique Drummagan. And the obstacles that are put in their way, to make this a real page turner that is hard to put down. Ms. Sinclair's My Wild Highlander is a must read and one that I recommend and will read again. I look forward to the next Highland Adventure.

    Breathtaking

Vonda Sinclair has written a breathtaking Scottish Historical that readers will eat up in one sitting! My Wild Highlander is a crisp, romantic, fast paced adventure set in the Highlands of Scotland, 1618. From the first pages, sparks fly between Lady Angelique Drummagan and Sir Lachlan MacGrath. A Kings unexpected declaration sets their fate and their lives will never be the same. Intrigue, danger, and passion intertwine with mutual respect and make My Wild Highlander a satisfying, memorable read. The love scenes are penned with the mature reader in mind and do not overshadow the detailed plot and compelling relationship that grows between Angelique and Lachlan with the passage of time. This is book two in Ms. Sinclair's Highlander series, a perfect complement to the first book, My Fierce Highlander. I am looking forward to the next book in this amazing Highlander series!

    A MUST read!!!

Review by Robin: Once again Ms. Sinclair hit it out of the park with this story. From the classy way she told the love story of Lachlan MacGrath and Lady Angelique Drummagan. And they obstacles that are put in their way, to make this a real page turner that is hard to put down.

From the beginning as we find out about Lachlan, womanizer of the Highlands. He has had his run of the countryside and has now met his match in Angelique. He has saved one of the King's trusted men so the king in return bestows upon Lachlan the fiery Angelique. Along with marriage to Angelique come land and a title.

Angelique knows of Lachlan's womanizing and doesn't hold much in him being faithful to her. She has a hard time with trust and doesn't want to have a man in her life, let alone her bed. From the start the kisses that Lachlan bestows upon on Angelique leave her wanting more. And more is exactly where they head. The steaminess of passion comes off the pages and makes you want to keep reading to find out just what happens.

Throughout the whole story we find a very classy and crisp romance that takes us to not only the bedroom but outside where we find that sometimes to make things work you must do things together and work hand in hand. TRUST!

From the beginning Lachlan wants to prove to Angelique that he can be trusted. He sells his beloved dagger to get a special ring as a token to her. And as he wins over her people and surrounding clans he feels that this just may work.

But with many great stories there is always an adversary and this is no different. A distant relative feels he is entitled to the title and the land. Of which he wants to hold for his nephew. In the meantime he wins over some of the clansman that had sworn their allegiance to Lachlan. As the story unfolds a man from Angelique's past joins forces with a woman that wants Lachlan and with Angelique's distant relative.

Angelique is on her way to trusting Lachlan completely when the past hits them and they are once again on the run.Forced to leave their new home they head to the Highland's where Lachlan's family is at in search of help and hopefully healing.

As they work together they end up putting the past to rest and finally get things cleared up so that there is no doubt that they are made for each other. Only to find out that trust and love go hand in hand.

Ms. Sinclair's My Wild Highlander is a must read and one that I recommend and will read again. I look forward to the next Highland Adventure.

    Fantastic Read

I loved Ms. Sinclair's first book My Fierce Highlander so much I had to try her latest. And I was not disappointed! From her spunky heroine to her incredibly sexy and charming hero, this book had me riveted from the first page. Lots of action, danger, romance and even some laughs. This book has it all. I really hope there's more to come in this series. I don't want it to end!

Vonda Sinclair delivers up another smashing Scottish historical romance with My Wild Highlander!

Play boy and younger brother, Lachlan MacGrath, is living it up as the honored guest of the King, but when His Majesty seeks to reward him with a bride Lachlan's fancy free world gets turned upside down. Seeking a place in life though, Lachlan see's his new matrimonial and Chieftain status as a way to prove his worth and responsibility, the intense attraction he feels towards his new wife is just an added bonus. Lady Angelique Drummagan isn't falling for his roguish charms though and refuses to believe him to be an honest man. Although when danger threatens, Angelique must rely on Lachlan to protect her and their clan position. Can Angelique learn to trust Lachlan though with more than just her body before it's too late? Or will an enemy from the past destroy their fragile marriage before it even has a chance to begin?

Action and adventure, emotion turmoil and sexual tension, humor and romance - My Wild Highlander has it all!
If you loved My Fierce Highlander or just drool over Scottish romances in general then I recommend you reading this book. It's a wonderful addition to the first novel in the series but can be read as a standalone without a problem. Vonda Sinclair has exceptional writing skills, grabbing you right on the first page and plummeting you into the story, not letting you go until the very end. And even then you're left wanting more! I became so attached to Lachlan's character that I literally wanted to smack Angelique numerous times for not giving him a chance and always expecting the worst. It drove me crazy how icy she was towards Lachlan no matter how sweet and understanding he was in return. But getting so worked up about a character is a sign of great writing! J Most importantly, Vonda gives readers another beautiful ending that had me smiling when I closed my book.err.reader. Lol I'm looking forward to Dirk's story next and it can't come soon enough! Vonda Sinclair is an author to keep your eye, I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more amazing works from her!
