I Received this from All Night Reads for my honest review. Naomi has just been betrayed by her boyfriend. He turned her over to a demon to bring to Lucifer. Before the demon can take her, she falls off the building and is saved by Damian, who is a vampire. He turns her and she wants revenge. Not on him, but on her ex and Lucifer and she is going to need Damian’s help in order to do it. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This book starts off with a kick, but then slowly dies down. Then it turns in a bunch of sexual tension between Naomi and Damian. So, that’s basically the first half of the book. It starts to get interesting again when they finally leave Damian’s house. They get attacked by demons and you think Damian would kill them, but no Naomi does. The rest of the book she keeps saving a two thousand year old vampire and she is only three days old. What in the world is going on? He should be saving her. Anyway, I wish there was more revenge talk in the book. I mean that’s what Naomi wants. I really like the concept of the story and that’s why I’m giving it three stars. I’m pretty sure there is going to be another one and I have high hopes that it is going to be better than this one. Overall: A good read that has some surprising elements that will keep you entertained till the end. Naomi- I really didn’t get attached to her. I mean she is crying or gets hurt and yet I feel nothing. I wanted to connect with her more. I want her to knock Damian out and do what she wants for a change. Damian- When we first meet him, he is scary and hot. That shortly goes out the window as the story moves on. He is always about to die and Naomi saves him. There is nothing wrong with Naomi saving him; I just want him to be able to hold his own…which he can’t. Not to mention he is emotional all the time (PMS anyone). 3 STARS

Have you ever experienced a bad break up? Do you remember what it was over? Did the guy try to “get even” with you? Trust me, your worst nightmare can’t compare with what Naomi Hawk’s ex did to her. Mark sold Naomi out, body and soul to Lucifer, yep, THE Lucifer, demon extraordinaire. Why? Because Naomi is special, she is a Child of the Light, a rare and potent commodity in the demon world. After the big attack and chase scene, Naomi finds she is plummeting down a mazillion stories to her death, better than becoming a snack for the devil, right? Swoosh, a dark angel swoops down and saves her at the last second, but wait, he’s not a dark angel, he’s a very old vampire, a very hot and sexy and young looking very old vampire. Damian is also her guardian, watching over her bloodline, keeping her ancestors safe from Lucifer. But he succumbs to temptation and takes just one little bite, terrified, defenseless and ticked, Naomi bites him back….hard, breaking his skin and swallows some of his blood, and, you guessed it! Naomi is now a vampire, too. And what does the Archangel Michael have to do with all of this? Is he Damian’s friend or foe? Will Lucifer still want Naomi? Will he find her? What is in this for Mark, anyway? The POV changes swiftly from Naomi to Damian and back, a “she said/saw/thought-he said/saw/thought” kind of thing that worked perfectly with the story! It was like having surround sound in a book! Night Hawk is fast, furious and a little spicy at times, (of course, it is, we are talking vampires, here, worse than hormonal teens)! J. E. Taylor has a talent for getting the world built swiftly, jumping right into the action and holding a swift pace with tension, attitude and humor! I would have like a little more info about Naomi’s history, but, I definitely had an eyeful of her present situation! A copy was provided by NetGalley and All Night Reads in exchange for my honest review.

Vampires and angels and demons, oh my!  J.E. Taylor's Night Hawk is packed with all three supernatural creatures.  Naomi Hawk finds herself at the mercy of a demon courtesy of her jerk boyfriend, Mark.  As if that wasn't terrifying enough, she's saved at the last second by a sexy vampire named Damian.  Naomi manages to get herself turned into a vampire quite unexpectedly, and then she discovers that she has a very interesting family tree that puts her in even more danger, this time from Lucifer himself.  Can she even survive her transition?  And if she does, will she live long enough to get revenge on Mark and Lucifer?  And what kind of relationship will she have with Damian? This was an interesting take on the interaction between different supernatural species, with a lot of action and a little romance in the mix.  However, there are some weaknesses in this novel.  First of all, Naomi seems to know an awful lot about vampires, while she's clueless about angels and demons.  There is no explanation for her knowledge of vampires.  Where did Naomi even come from?  All that we find out is that she has a grandfather, that she's at least part Native American, that she has a very special bloodline, and that she had been dating Mark for two years.  We learn quite a bit more about Damian than we ever do about Naomi.  Each chapter shifts POV between Naomi and Damian.  While it was interesting getting inside the heads of both characters (while they  were getting inside each other's heads!), at times it was confusing and I found myself having to go back to the beginning of the chapter to figure who "I" was.   The end of the novel is a great set-up for another installment, which I would be interested in reading to see if any of my questions are answered.  I hope that if there are future volumes, we get to learn more about Naomi's origins.

Night Hawk is a fast paced urban fantasy novel that throws you into the action from page one. Naomi’s boyfriend sold her to the devil to get a better soul-selling-in-exchange for fame deal. Needless to say Naomi is pissed off. She wants revenge, but she has to stay alive long enough first. Naomi is constantly on the run from Lucifer’s demons, when she falls off an eight story building she pretty much resigns herself to her death, but she never hits the bottom. She is saved by a reluctant hero names Daimon. Daimon made a deal with the Archangel Michael to watch over those in his bloodline, an Naomi apparently falls into that category. From the start Naomi and Daimon are attracted to one another. Throughout their journey together their connection grows stronger and eventually they cannot deny it anymore! J.E. Taylor writes her stories with a lot of action, badass women, and dark, sexy men. This is a quick read that will have you wanting more by the end of the story. Naomi and Daimon’s chemistry is extremely hot, and their snark comments and banter add a comedic element to the mix. Fans of Jeaniene Frost and Kim Harrison will like J.E. Taylor‘s characters and storyline. Overall a fun and exciting read!

There isn’t much of a lead-up or introduction to the premise of the story. The reader kind of gets thrown in there at the deep end. One minute the main character is apparently a sweet tasting delectable morsel that is on the demons most wanted list and the next she has is toting her own set of fangs. Not sure the fight scene with Michael was believeable. She is a newly turned vamp with a ‘light’ heritage and yet she is supposedly more powerful than an ancient angel? Other than the constantly changing narration in the form of more than one first person POV, which was at times a little distracting, the story was pleasant. Unfortunately pleasant to the point of being rather bland. I think given a little more character development and depth the story could have been a lot stronger. I received a copy of this book via Netgalley.

You guys know I’m not normally the vamper fan. I actually had no idea this would be a vampire story. I was thinking along the lines of demons when the blurb talked about shadows. Well, there’s a little bit of everything in here. It starts out crazy! Like, Naomi is hanging over the side of an 80 story building crazy!!! It really doesn’t slow down either. And vampires are not “really” vampires… I mean they are, but they are different than what we normally associate with them. Naomi is a strong woman, but when things go up in the air, she has some troubles, and yet she is still willing to bulldoze right through. She knows she isn’t going to be the strongest, or smartest, or most knowledged, but she refuses to give up and be a victim. I like this about her. She has the sarcastic dialogue down as well.  I look forward to seeing her grow as more comes. Damian… forgive me, but he is like the most sensitive ancient vamper ever. LOL Don’t get me wrong, he’s hawt, he’s old, but he’s a little whimpy for me. hahahahaha maybe it’s that alpha werewolf lover in me, but I really expected him to be mean and crazy for his age However, I need to say I actually liked that his character was not the “usual”. It’s always good when the author can make you do a double take.  I also love unpredictable things in a book! The writing is really good! She had me from the first sentences when I realized that the book would be starting with an almost really crazy death! Way to start me out immediately with action and then keep me entertained! Plus, way to have bad guys that you will LOVE to HATE!! I almost hated the bad guys more than I loved the good guys LOL! I enjoyed this one and I definitely will say if you like a vampire romance with some demons and angels and some serious family complications attached, this one is for you! 4.5 REFRESHINGLY BLOODY PAWS!

This was a hard book for me to review.  For the most part, I enjoyed reading it, I think it is worth reading, but I couldn't honestly remember any specific tidbits that really stood out to me after the fact.  That being said, the story was fast paced, action packed, and entertaining.   I found the use of first person point of view for two different characters at times jarring and, with the duration of some of the chapters in each character's POV, sometimes hard to get into (it takes a little bit to reset to thinking that the "I" character is no longer who you think it is), which might have led to the above mentioned lack of tidbits (for me, I guess it was kind of liking switching between English and Spanish each chapter - I'd have to re-immerse myself each time).  I finished the book quickly, so any issues with editing or style didn't slow me down, which I generally use as a guide of whether the editing was adequate. Overall, I enjoyed the story, was immersed in the plot and the character's plights for most of the day.  I enjoyed the characters and Michael was pretty complex, if a little frustrating (but the best characters always are).  It was a fun little story to cuddle up on the couch with.

This story has Vampires, an angel, demons, shifters, surprises, good writing, action and it flowed well. The sexual chemistry between Naomi and Sebastian was believable and the sex scenes steamy. I liked it. Definitely worth a read. :-)  I was provided a free copy of this book by Bewitching Book Tours for my honest opinion.

"This doesn't mean you own me," she said, her voice still carrying a hint of anger. "I know. It means you own me." - how many ways can you sigh with happy bubbles? LOVE IT! Short, sharp, and thrilling. I'll be honest, I did not know this was going to be a vampire novel. I read it purely because I'm a fan of this author's work and read the teaser on her blog (which was hot!). However, it's certainly different to the norm. These are vampires that aren't just vampires, and how they got that way intrigues me (you don't find out, not in this installment, but I sense there'll be another book after this). Damian certainly sounds impressive on paper, the chemistry between him and Naomi is gorgeous and fun to read, yet overall I found him horribly lacking in the badass department. Yet probably because of this, it makes this book so unlike every vamp book you've read. A hot sensitive romantic sappy vamp is certainly not your usual fodder and it makes a refreshing change to the all capable norm. However Damian is really old (REALLY!) and I'd have expected him to have acquired a bit more savvy in all those years of experience. The story line is complicated, there are a lot of cameo positions which beg for more time dedicated to them on the page. But overall it's action packed, dramatic, certainly unique, and rather addictive. I really enjoyed this read and hope the author plans to deliver more of Damian and Naomi (and knowing her work dare I give her credit and thank her for not killing off a beloved character in this one :D lol) If you're looking for clashing vengeance, angelic and devilish complications, an ex whose tender bits you'd like to see roasting on an open flame (you will HATE Mark), and some great chemistry, you will love this.
