The medically proven diet that restores your body's essential nutritional balance

"Good fats"—essential fatty acids—influence every aspect of our being, from the beating of our hearts to our ability to learn to remember. There are two types of essential fatty acids (EFAs), omega-6 and omega-3. The problem with our modern diet is that it contains far more omega-6 fatty acids than omega-3s. A delicious way to lower your cholesterol and live longer!

I lowered my cholesterol by almost 30 points in just one month by following the dietary guidelines set forth in this informative book! This book is well- written, using scientific data to back up its claims. Plus the recipes are easy to make, using easy-to-find ingredients, and are delicious as well! This book has completely transformed my eating habits for the better - I feel better, am healthier, and even enjoy cooking (something that has always been such a chore in the past). Thank you, Ms. Simopoulos!!!

A user-friendly book that provides sensible, expert information

'The Omega Diet' makes it clear just what exactly constitutes a truly healthful diet. In easily understandable language Dr. Simopoulos outlines a simple, medically sound plan based on seven guidelines that can restore your body's natural balance and help it to function as nature intended. Her book emphasizes the importance of eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants and warns against consuming excessive amounts of omega-6 fatty acids, trans-fatty acids, saturated fats, and refined carbohydrates, which can contribute to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, and a host of other maladies that afflict many millions of Americans. You really owe it to yourself to read this book.

As good as its delecious recepies.

It's not a diet book, it's not a recepie book, it's not a healthy food book, it's all of them and even more. It's very practical and it's very easy to apply the knowledge gained from its rich information in your daily life. After having read the book, my wife Rania started cooking the delecious recepies and giving me my needs of daily energy....I lost 12 Kgs in 2 months, just as planed. (she lost 8 Kgs as well). IT IS A MUST if you are looking for healthy AND very tasty food.

    I Also Recommend:

Not really a diet book or a cookbook

A good, but not great book about the benefits of the omega diet. The research and clinical trials done are interesting but not particularly useful for the average person just looking for a healthier way of eating. It doesn't offer any real warnings about eating too much fatty fish and the possibility of mercury poisoning. There aren't all that many recipes as well. The ones there are good and useful though. It's a much better and healthier spin on the current paleo diet craze happening.

Should be on everyone's reading list

This book has changed the way I think about fats. It has taught me to bring my intake of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids into balance and to recognize the importance of the latter in my diet. Although the book contains rock-solid scientific documentation, it is easy to understand, and the plan it advocates is simple, nutritionally sound, and offers many appealing food options. For the past several months I have been following the guidelines in 'The Omega Diet,' choosing recipes from my large collection of cookbooks, particularly Sonia Uvezian's 'Recipes and Remembrances from an Eastern Mediterranean Kitchen,' which is one of the best cookbooks I have ever used. Uvezian provides health-conscious readers with a wealth of recipes for incredibly delicious, nutritious, and satisfying dishes that are quite compatible with the principles outlined by Dr. Simopoulos. The results have been impressive. I feel great and have even lost some weight without trying! It is a pleasure to be true to this diet, which is one you can enjoy all your life with a clear conscience.
