Overview

From New York Times bestselling author Vivian Arend.

His goal is to stand firm

Len Thompson only wants one woman—his little sister’s best friend. But no matter how much he craves Janey Watson, keeping a physical barrier between them is his only choice, and if he can't have her, he refuses to have anyone. When Janey announces she's leaving town, all bets are off. Len decides it’s time to take—and give—everything he’s been holding back while he still has the chance.

Her gift is rocking his world

Janey’s been crushing on Len for years, but he’s never seemed interested in her. Until now. She’s not sure what triggered his change of heart, but, hell yeah, she’ll accept it. All of it. Every kiss, every touch, every mind-blowing climax. Working to meet the deadline for her move is not nearly as interesting as enjoying steamy escapades with the sexy mechanic she's always desired.

Only it’s a relationship built on sand, and Len must finally choose—face his past or let their future crumble.

The strong and silent type.. One Sexy Ride - This is book 2 in the Thompson & Sons series. I loved reading Len and Janey's story! I could not put it down! We have Len and Janey that have known each other since they were kids... She has always wanted more, but he has held back. After a very interesting incident, he finally gives in but takes things slow... Janey does not want slow... she digs in and finally gets him to open up a little and things heat up. So many little moments in the book that made me smile with a few that made me cry. Len really tugged at my heartstrings... I truly enjoy a book that involves my emotions! What great banter between the characters, especially with Len's brothers... so real! Another wonderful read from Vivian Arend. Her words make these characters come to life for me. I found it sweet and sexy! Looking forward to more from this author and this series!

One Sexy Ride is Len Thompson and Janey Watson's story. Janey has had a crush on Len since she was a teenager. Len is also her best friend's brother. What Janey dosen't know is that Len has had feelings for her for just as long. Janey and Len will take a summer to figure out if they have what it takes to make a relationship. Len will have to come to terms with his past if he wants Janey as his future. Their family and friends are there to help them along. This book has ups and downs but keeps you turning to the next page to see what happens.

3.5 Stars Reviewed by Francesca and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog I was pretty excited to read this book after finishing ROCKY RIDE so I grabbed the audiobook right away. This story was surprisingly sweet! And what really caught me off guard was the sexy as hell hero is a virgin. *Swoon* Yes, he wanted sex to be something special and had waited for that right moment and that right woman. And even with the right woman, it has to be special. We can sometimes forget that men can be romantic and have mushy feelings too. So that was my favorite part about this story. Len and Janey have known each other forever as he is her best friends’ brother. Quiet and a bit closed off, but Janey has always wanted Len. And now that she has plans to move away, Len decides to finally make a move because she may just be the right woman for him. I enjoy to change up from the alpha hero now and then and Len was the perfect sampling of that. He’s no less possessive and protective but in a more subdued way. That quiet strength that will always be there for you, but doesn’t need to be loud about it shouting it from the rooftops. Definitely a guy that is a lot more my speed. And Laney was the perfect balance for him. She doesn’t let him taking himself too serious, loosens him up, and breaks down his protective walls. The progress at which their relationship developed was perfect and with a short(ish) page count, I think the author did an amazing job with their story. As always, Vivian Arend is a go to author for a sweet and sexy story. She always creates worlds and characters that you come to care for right away and that they stay with you. Not just the main couple, but the rest of the cast of characters as well. I think this was another great example of that!

Vivian Arend continues the story of the Thompson family of mechanics in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta with her novella, ONE SEXY RIDE. The story focuses on Len Thompson, a quiet and shy man who has never eyes for anyone but Janey, his younger sister Katy’s best friend. ONE SEXY RIDE is a sweet story about ordinary characters much like people we all know, live with, or perhaps are. It’s a last chance story that leads to forever, with a few rocks strewn along the way. Conflict isn’t too complicated and is easily resolved. There’s a great reversal of roles among our main characters that was a pleasant surprise to me and added much to the overall theme. Supporting characters are prominent and play important roles in the story as many of Vivian Arend’s characters do. There are revisits of couples from the two previous Thompson and Sons stories as well as a nod to their Coleman neighbors from the Six Pack Ranch series. If you are looking for a pleasant read that will leave you with a smile, ONE SEXY RIDE is the ride for you. It’s a passion-filled ride sprinkled with honey!

Len Thompson is the middle son, and the ever stoic backbone of the Thompson family. He rarely complains and has always been the type to just keep to himself when others would chatter on. He’s wanted Janey Watson since they were kids, but an unbearable personal tragedy happened while he was in high school that has kept him from ever acting out on their mutual feelings for each other. What I could never really figure out while reading was why now? Yes we were told that she was planning on moving, although she didn’t seem overly keen on the idea, but we never find out exactly what she said in her drug induced night with Len to provoke him into action. I honestly think she said something that night, but sadly we’ll never know. Although I feel like One Sexy Ride had an overall feel good vibe to it, I just couldn’t get past the juvenile characterization of our hero that caused me to be unable to connect with him. I have no idea of what their supposed ages are, since we are given very little in the way of character description, but he acted emotionally like he was still a teenager making it very difficult for me to view him as our sexy hero. His inexperience when it came to women was definitely endearing in a cute and very sweet way, but I also found it funny that he somehow manages to become a powerhouse in bed despite this. Now don’t get me wrong here because I do think that he was sexy, but it is a romance after all so he can’t suck in bed his first time, am I right? All that aside though, he did do some really adorable things to win Janey back, so he definitely had that going for him there towards the end. On the other side of things, I really enjoyed Janey even if it did take a little while for me to warm up to her. I loved that her character was more aggressive; she had a really fun, strong personality and liked how she was the perfect balance to Len’s stoic nature. Regrettably, she started the story with some questionable actions that I later found to be completely out of character for her. What woman, in her right mind, takes a drink from a total stranger? To me, that was beyond naive and nearly classified her as a too stupid to live heroine for me, but I’m glad I didn’t write her off completely until I got to know her better. She really is a smart girl, so doing something that dumb just didn’t feel right for her character. Casting those feelings aside though, she and Len definitely burn up the sheets, and I enjoyed the intensity that their relationship had in that regard. Another slight snag, and it honestly wasn’t that big of a deal, was that I understood communication was going to be their issue early on given Len’s nature, but it also would have been nice to see them have some other issue since that really was kind of cliché. Anyhoo… the bottom line is that I think this book needed a few more edits to make it a really great read. The base story line was a personal favorite of mine with the whole friends to lovers trope, so I had high hopes for it. The one thing I just don’t like to see when I read are content errors, and I found too many to really push me to fall in love with this book. There were too many mentions of things that were never followed through, so I found a lot of missing pieces in the story that were never really resolved. What was really up with Mr. Jons, because it felt like more should have been there with him, and can I just say that the thing with his nephew, Brad, was just weird, too. Also, what was in the pink wrapping paper there at the end? Do we ever find these things out? Nope, but I would have liked to. Anyway…I’m digressing. I would say that One Sexy Ride was a decent read overall. Now was it what I was expecting from this author given what I’ve previously read of her work? Not really, but I’m interested in the family and what comes next for them, so I am looking forward to reading more of this series in the future. *I received a review copy from the publisher/author via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.*

Len is the strong silent type who doesn't say much, but feels more deeply than he realizes. He also carries a childhood pain that affects the way he sees relationships. Jany is a smart, sassy, fun, woman who has loved Len since her teen years. Can she forgive his fear? Len and Jany together are tender, hot, fun and swet. Everything you want in a romance.

While I haven’t read any of the Thompson & Sons or the Six Pack Ranch series, I have read Arend’s All Fired Up and enjoyed it a lot. One Sexy Ride proves to be just as intriguing, although it deals more with family dynamic and long held fears. I think the childhood friend/friend’s sibling is one of my favorite types of romances. I love the shared history and the understanding that comes from two people knowing each other for years, even if they haven’t been seeing each other all that clearly. With sexy, silent Len and vivacious Janey creating sparks, life isn’t necessarily calm but it is a lot of fun. And if the rest of Arend’s stories are anything like the two I’ve read so far, I definitely have found a new go-to author. Emotionally complex, funny and sweet, but richly sexy, One Sexy Ride is full of color and passion and fun. Full review available at Romantic Reads and Such on wordpress. 4 Stars! Release: June 19, 2014 Erotic Contemporary Romance ABOUT THE BOOK: His goal is to stand firm As the middle child in a big family, Len Thompson has found it easy to slip under the radar. His relationships outside the family-run garage tend to run a mile wide but only an inch deep as he keeps his heart, body and soul protected. But when the one woman he’s always wanted makes it known she’ll soon be leaving town, he can’t resist letting her into his carefully constructed fortress. Her gift is rocking his world Chasing her best friend’s big brother has both entertained and frustrated Janey for years. She’s not sure what triggered his change of heart, but hell, yeah, she’ll accept it. All of it. Every kiss, every touch, every bit of body-shaking pleasure. Working to meet her renovation deadline is suddenly not nearly as interesting as the mind-blowing escapades she’s enjoying with the big sexy mechanic. When old fears threaten, Len must finally choose—face his past or let their future crumble. MY REVIEW: This was a very sweet addition to this series. I've always been a fan of Vivian's stories, especially with her Six Pack series, and this is lovely with how closely linked the two series are. Readers should find this book easy to read, hot to trot, and engaging.
