Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
A clever conversation in rhyme between a boy and an ant . . . becomes a metaphor for accepting differences in others. This Spanish translation . . . is about as good as it gets. -Cr?¨ticas
Criticas
K-Gr 3-This Spanish translation of a picture book written by a father-daughter team is about as good as it gets. The original, published in English in 1998, is a clever conversation in rhyme between a boy and an ant that becomes a metaphor for accepting differences in others. Posing the question of whether or not he should squash the insect, the boy and the ant discuss their relative size and importance. Hernandez's translation maintains not only the rhyme scheme of the original but also the essential spirit of this delightful fable. Tilley's watercolors have a slightly cartoonish look that is especially effective on the double-page spreads-readers must physically turn the book sideways to see the boy and the ant towering over each other. An exemplary title for publishers to follow when preparing Spanish translations.
