Overview

There is need. And then there is Fate.

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome—especially when Alexandria's other half is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom—so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do—and sacrifice—for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies—lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon—and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude—or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

    People.....

Hey can you stop EXPLAINING THE WHOLE THING in your comments, but clearly Aiden is the bad one from the thing the oracle said to Alex. Pfft come on....u wouldnt EXPECT it to be Aiden. Even though he wont say it, he loves Alex, but Aiden will be the bad one. Considering the fact that Seth would flat out kill a pure for her, he is too loyal for Jennifer to just screw up Seth's personality and the "connection". But nothing is certain, just gotta wait and read Deity and Apollyon (the next books)

This has to be the BEST BOOK EVER!! I LOVED this book!!! Jennife

This has to be the BEST BOOK EVER!! I LOVED this book!!! Jennifer has done it again, and its better than the first one! Pure had romance that made you root for Alex and made your body feel tingly inside waiting for that special thing to happen. Seth also surprises you with his funny charm and charisma that he opens up himself to Alex. I was so torn at which one I wanted Alex to be with. The Zoo scene, Pool scene left me like this O_O because my heart was pounding like crazy!! Jennifer's writing is the best addiction ever!! It was at a great pace, left me wanting more!

The surprises along the way had me in tears that I was grabbing tissues because it was unpredicted and unknowing due to the amount of love I have for this book. If I do cry in the book, it means that its a winning read. Armentrout will leave you wanting more of her writing because its addicting, you will fall back in love with every character except the Daimons. The process of what was happening was mind blowing!! The scenes with Alex, Aiden and Seth would leave me breathless, and the tension between Aiden and Seth was soo funny. Alex is still kicking butt, and is my favorite heroine. Aiden is one of those characters that you really want to get to know. Aiden is still forbidden unfortunately but you can still feel the tension between after what happened in Half-Blood. This love traingle is getting more interesting after getting to know more of Seth and Aiden. I still love Aiden, but Seth was growing on me.

This book has got to be my favorite of all Covenant books for the moment, and I think Deity will leave me the same way because knowing Jennifer Armentrout's novels, she will leave me with a cliffhanger. I am still suffering from JLA withdrawal!! If you havent read Half-Blood I recommend you buy it now because you dont know what you are missing. If you give me any of Jennifer's books I would be in happy land. Now I am excited to read Deity because that ending in Pure was like OMG I need the next one now!!

Now I will leave you with some of my fave quotes:

"Now, I brought us a movie to watch, the one that has sparkly vampires in it. I thought you'd
be down for that." (121 e-ARC)

"He stalled, silver eyes dropping to my shoulder. I could almost feel it in the air--the primal
jealousy, his raw urge to physically remove Seth's hand." (242 e-ARC)

Let me begin by saying Pure was freaking AWESOME!! I absolutely

Let me begin by saying Pure was freaking AWESOME!! I absolutely love Jennifer Armentrout and I think she should be considered a genre all her own. Jennifer is one of those authors that touches you deep within, stirring up all your emotions. I really loved Daimon and Half-Blood, and it gets even better in Pure, picking up where Half-Blood left off. Alex is back at the Covenant, destined to become the second Apollyn AKA Seth's other half. Aiden, a Pure Blood who Alex really loves is basically hands off because Pures and Half Bloods can't mix, thus the delima concerning need and fate. I loved the mix of Greek mythology, action, and romance in the story.

I love Alex's character, and Jennifer has written Pure from Alex's point of view in such a way that you feel like you are right there with her experiencing her pain, desire, heartache, laughter and tears. I really fell for Aiden in Half-Blood, and I still love him, but I think I am now "Team Seth," at least until I read Diety. It is hard to resist those hot bad boys. Seth was kind of a butt in Half Blood, but you get to see a whole different side of him in Pure. He is funny, he really cares for and takes care of Alex, and he is very, very hot. Alex and Seth have a very entertaining love-hate relationship and the chemistsry between them is through the roof. They are both funny, reckless, and hot-headed, though Aiden shows his temper a bit also.

Alex goes through some really heart-wrenching experiences, especially when she loses someone close to her. Seth and Aiden have some interesting moments also, and you get to see just how jealous they both are when it comes to Alex. There are some hot romantic scenes with Aiden, and really sizzling moments with Seth. I will say three words... famous. pool. scene. Trust me you will definitely want to read about that. There is also some heart-pumping action, intense fight scenes, and Aiden proves that he is so set apart from the other Pure Bloods. Pure is an excellent read, one you won't want to miss. I have added it to my read-again list, as well as to my favorites.

Here are a few quotes that I really enjoyed:

(Seth) "Now, I brought us a movie to watch, the one that has sparkly vampires in it. I thought you'd be down for that." (Alex) Uh, you're a Team Edward kind of guy?" He(Seth) snorted. "No. I'm Team James or Team Tyler's Van, but apparently neither of them won by the look of it. She's still alive."

(Alex)"If you weren't a pure, what would you be doing right now? Like, what would you want to do with your life?" Aiden glanced down at our hands and then his gaze flicked to mine. "Right this instant? I'd be doing a hell of a lot more than what I'm allowed to do."

His breath danced over my cheek, then my lips. "Angel, just let me kiss you." (I'm not telling who said that).

    WOW!

Hmm, what to say? It was riveting and i couldn't put it down, but i wish Alex would remember her prophecies more and stop acting so stupid (sometimes), and seth, what can i say? I was starting to like him, then i saw him kinda lead her astray (subtlely). But i must say it was hard to put down and i can't wait for the next book.

    Great Series!!

I am floored I didn't know about this series before now. Both the 1st (HalfBlood) and this 2nd book have had me on the edge from front to back. This book had my stomach in knots, so angry., then laughing, then sad. Love it. As far as team? I would say I'm gunning for Seth theres just something about a bad boy that finally meets the girl that rocks his boat! And he seems to like Alex from any angle and it seems more then just the Appoyon connection. Aiden is annoying contiually stringing her along knowing he could get her in big trouble. I just feel he has some thing up his sleeve. A good book for all ages. This is a great paranormal and although it's rates YA I'm in my 40s and am liking it. It's not unbarably "teenish".

    It was awesome!

Wow. Just..wow. I loved it. Everything's so deliciously complicated. I got the ebook version and that had a scene from Seths's perspective as well. I really liked seeing a bit of what Seth thinks.

Pure had me seeing, so much more than Half-Blood did, why people always seem to say that this is their favorite series when you mention Jennifer L Armentrout. She's starting to make a habit of pulling me in with book one in a series. Only to kick it up a notch and keep setting the bar just a little bit higher with each book that comes along. I can't wait to see what's in store with me for Deity, Apollyon and Sentinel. *Excitedly bounces in chair* I gotta stop that, it makes it hard to type!

This book was absolutely laugh out loud funny through quite a bit of it. I love Alex and her snarky-say-what's-on-her-mind-no-matter-what ways. Some of her thoughts and the lines that came out of her mouth had me laughing so hard I was afraid I'd wake someone during my late night reading binges. One of my favorites was this moment with Seth:

Seth sighed again, this time much louder than before. Quietly and
rather casually, he reached over and tugged me across the couch.
I ended up with the side of my face smooshed against his thigh and
his heavy arm draped over my side. "What are you--?"

"Shh," he murmured. "I'm watching the movie."

I tried to sit up, but didn't make it very far. His arm weighed a ton.
Several unsuccessful attempts later, I gave up. "So...uh, you're a
    Team Edward kind of guy?"

He snorted. "No. I'm Team James or Team Tyler's Van, but apparently
neither of them won by the look of it. She's still alive."

I mean come on, I'm a HUGE Twilight fan (Yeah suck it people I'm a fan and I'm proud! lol) but even I have to admit, that's pretty funny! And there was so many more moments that were equally as awesome. And they were needed. Because it wasn't all fun and games. There was quite a bit of heartache too. Oh yeah I had to reach for the tissues on this book.

If Half-Blood had me swooning over Aiden through the whole book, it completely flip-flopped on me in Pure. I wanted to stab him. Repeatedly. I had urges to roll my eyes and close the book every time I saw his name appear. I know not everyone has read this so I can't even really hint at to my reasons why but ugh! Literally until the last TWO PAGES, T-W-O, I just couldn't stand him. I'm still not liking him a whole lot but right at the end there he really stepped up to the plate and did something that made me remember why I liked him so much in book one.

Seth on the other hand, okay you guys are going to think I'm crazy I realize this, but I love him. I am so Team Seth at this point. (I did say at this point I still have more books to read things may change lol) I KNOW, I know he is arrogant, and full of himself, and cocky, and loves to talk about himself and how awesome he is but....come on the guy is pretty freaking awesome! And the sides of him that aren't all of those things, that come out in tiny waves, for Alex? Yeah those made me fall for him. What can I say the jerk-face makes me laugh!

And there's sort of a new mystery person. Brown Eyes. From the moment that servant first made an appearance, I have this feeling, it was instant, I'm 99.9999999% sure that I know who he's going to turn out to be. And if it's true...oh holy juicy Apollyon babies everywhere...it's gonna be good!! So I'm just throwing it out there now, so when we do find out what's up with him I can either do the "I was right! I was right!" dance or the head hanging of shame. Come onnnn dance!

So overall this one was so much better than the first one. More laughter, drama, action, mystery, betrayals, sadness. More everything! Jennifer L Armentrout at her finest!

    “Aw, did you just fall?”
“No.” I rolled onto my back, wincing. “I attacked the floor.”
    ¿ Jennifer L. Armentrout, Pure

Being a half-blood Apollyon-in-training, is not all it is cracked up to be. Alex is “fated” to be Seth’s other half, but her heart and soul belongs to Aiden. Aiden is a Pure, and Pures and Half-Bloods are forbidden to be together. Aiden has choices and freedom, Alex doesn’t, when she Awaken’s she will want what Seth wants, she will no longer be Alex.

The intensity between Aiden and Alex is maddening. They are so close, but so far apart. Alex finds comfort in Seth. Through their bond Alex can tell that Seth is more than meets the eye. Can Alex be happy with Seth? Will fate find a way for her and Aiden to be together?

Jennifer L. Armentrout reels the reader deeper into the Hematoi world. There are schemes and plots developing that could mean the end of the world as we know it. Alex will protect those that she loves at any cost. Will the gods intervene, or will they continue to ignore them? There is danger around every corner and Alex always seems to find herself right in the middle of it. The reader will want to rise up and take arms right beside of Alex. Which side will you choose?

I'm Pretty Sure This Series Is Amazing!

Pure is as action-packed and steamy as its predecessor, but where Half-Blood was fresh and full of learning for both the reader and main character Alex, Pure has less of that new feeling to it. The story focuses more on the politics surrounding the Covenant and Breed Order. The daimon threat lingers throughout and Alex is still coping and learning about the whole Apollyon business, but the laws and traditions really come into play.

Seeing the Covenant world outside of Alex’s little North Carolina bubble is so different from what I expected. Nothing ever went down the way I imagined it, but I ate up how unpredictable it was. Getting an inside view into Council meetings and seeing other Hematoi made the world seem all that more three dimensional.

As much as the politics and such play into the plot, the love story also has a huge role. I have a feeling I’m in the vast minority on this, but I do not like Aiden. I don’t hate him or anything, but I can’t help but feel like he comes off as very condescending at times, and he’s a total portal of fun suckery. But Armentrout writes him spectacularly because I GET HIM. Then there’s Seth…

Seth is arrogant and cocky and a more than a little manwhorish, but I freaking love him. He’s fun and keeps Alex on her toes. And despite the fact that he comes off as selfish, there is so much more to him. Maybe it’s the bad boy thing he has going, or the mysterious side to him, but I adore Seth so much. Any scene between Seth and Alex is sure to boast incredibly heated dialogue and tension. No matter what they’re doing, it’s always passionate.

Pure shows a huge amount of growth for all the characters involved, but I was happy to see that Alex remained just as feisty as before. She’s clever and willful, but so determined sometimes that she misses the little details within the big picture. Obviously, bad things ensue. And it is so entertaining to read about! And the tension! Gah, the tension!! I don’t think I’ve read a story with so much delicious tension between characters. Whether is knockout fighting, petty arguments, or steamy scenes, the tension is always sky high and hot. I. Cannot. Wait. For. More.

This one was another thrill-ride in what I’m sensing to be an action-packed and unpredictable series. Armentrout’s writing is seductive and addicting – I couldn’t put Pure down and had to devour it in one sitting. The characters aren’t just entertaining, but have serious depth to them. I’m not only smitten with the overall story, but I cannot get enough of Alex and the Covenant world. I’m eagerly waiting for November to roll around so I can dive into Deity.

    Awaited Sequel Finally Here

Oh MY... what can I say about this book? Ok... get a grip..( coughs ) Well. Seth is my hero. Aiden is, I can't even say. And Alex is the protagonist that every book wants. Strong, clever, and smart, but not afraid to speak her mind ( Maybe she needs to work on that )
OKAY I WILL NOT TALK ABOUT THE BOOK AND RUIN IT TO U
Okay making things in caps doesn't help convince me at all.
Well in this novel Alex still kicks butt, but at the Convenient, things are changing. And a certain SOMEONe is changing. Aiden is drawing away, and Seth is getting closer. Alex is getting new powers thrown her way. Seth can feel what Alex is feeling because of the bond ( The bond is something I am very glad the author decided to put that in ) This book makes my laugh out loud. Cry and want to throw the book at the wall. Well U SHOULD TOTALLY Buy it. Its the awaited sequel and does not disappoint. U will fall head over feels.
