Overview

There is need. And then there is Fate...

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome—especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom—so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do—and sacrifice—for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies—lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

    People.....

Hey can you stop EXPLAINING THE WHOLE THING in your comments, but clearly Aiden is the bad one from the thing the oracle said to Alex. Pfft come on....u wouldnt EXPECT it to be Aiden. Even though he wont say it, he loves Alex, but Aiden will be the bad one. Considering the fact that Seth would flat out kill a pure for her, he is too loyal for Jennifer to just screw up Seth's personality and the "connection". But nothing is certain, just gotta wait and read Deity and Apollyon (the next books)

This has to be the BEST BOOK EVER!! I LOVED this book!!! Jennifer has done it again, and its better than the first one! Pure had romance that made you root for Alex and made your body feel tingly inside waiting for that special thing to happen. Seth also surprises you with his funny charm and charisma that he opens up himself to Alex. I was so torn at which one I wanted Alex to be with. The Zoo scene, Pool scene left me like this O_O because my heart was pounding like crazy!! Jennifer's writing is the best addiction ever!! It was at a great pace, left me wanting more!

The surprises along the way had me in tears that I was grabbing tissues because it was unpredicted and unknowing due to the amount of love I have for this book. If I do cry in the book, it means that its a winning read. Armentrout will leave you wanting more of her writing because its addicting, you will fall back in love with every character except the Daimons. The process of what was happening was mind blowing!! The scenes with Alex, Aiden and Seth would leave me breathless, and the tension between Aiden and Seth was soo funny. Alex is still kicking butt, and is my favorite heroine. Aiden is one of those characters that you really want to get to know. Aiden is still forbidden unfortunately but you can still feel the tension between after what happened in Half-Blood. This love traingle is getting more interesting after getting to know more of Seth and Aiden. I still love Aiden, but Seth was growing on me.

This book has got to be my favorite of all Covenant books for the moment, and I think Deity will leave me the same way because knowing Jennifer Armentrout's novels, she will leave me with a cliffhanger. I am still suffering from JLA withdrawal!! If you havent read Half-Blood I recommend you buy it now because you dont know what you are missing. If you give me any of Jennifer's books I would be in happy land. Now I am excited to read Deity because that ending in Pure was like OMG I need the next one now!!

Now I will leave you with some of my fave quotes:

"Now, I brought us a movie to watch, the one that has sparkly vampires in it. I thought you'd
be down for that." (121 e-ARC)

"He stalled, silver eyes dropping to my shoulder. I could almost feel it in the air--the primal
jealousy, his raw urge to physically remove Seth's hand." (242 e-ARC)

Let me begin by saying Pure was freaking AWESOME!! I absolutely

Let me begin by saying Pure was freaking AWESOME!! I absolutely love Jennifer Armentrout and I think she should be considered a genre all her own. Jennifer is one of those authors that touches you deep within, stirring up all your emotions. I really loved Daimon and Half-Blood, and it gets even better in Pure, picking up where Half-Blood left off. Alex is back at the Covenant, destined to become the second Apollyn AKA Seth's other half. Aiden, a Pure Blood who Alex really loves is basically hands off because Pures and Half Bloods can't mix, thus the delima concerning need and fate. I loved the mix of Greek mythology, action, and romance in the story.

I love Alex's character, and Jennifer has written Pure from Alex's point of view in such a way that you feel like you are right there with her experiencing her pain, desire, heartache, laughter and tears. I really fell for Aiden in Half-Blood, and I still love him, but I think I am now "Team Seth," at least until I read Diety. It is hard to resist those hot bad boys. Seth was kind of a butt in Half Blood, but you get to see a whole different side of him in Pure. He is funny, he really cares for and takes care of Alex, and he is very, very hot. Alex and Seth have a very entertaining love-hate relationship and the chemistsry between them is through the roof. They are both funny, reckless, and hot-headed, though Aiden shows his temper a bit also.

Alex goes through some really heart-wrenching experiences, especially when she loses someone close to her. Seth and Aiden have some interesting moments also, and you get to see just how jealous they both are when it comes to Alex. There are some hot romantic scenes with Aiden, and really sizzling moments with Seth. I will say three words... famous. pool. scene. Trust me you will definitely want to read about that. There is also some heart-pumping action, intense fight scenes, and Aiden proves that he is so set apart from the other Pure Bloods. Pure is an excellent read, one you won't want to miss. I have added it to my read-again list, as well as to my favorites.

Here are a few quotes that I really enjoyed:

(Seth) "Now, I brought us a movie to watch, the one that has sparkly vampires in it. I thought you'd be down for that." (Alex) Uh, you're a Team Edward kind of guy?" He(Seth) snorted. "No. I'm Team James or Team Tyler's Van, but apparently neither of them won by the look of it. She's still alive."

(Alex)"If you weren't a pure, what would you be doing right now? Like, what would you want to do with your life?" Aiden glanced down at our hands and then his gaze flicked to mine. "Right this instant? I'd be doing a hell of a lot more than what I'm allowed to do."

His breath danced over my cheek, then my lips. "Angel, just let me kiss you." (I'm not telling who said that).

    WOW!

Hmm, what to say? It was riveting and i couldn't put it down, but i wish Alex would remember her prophecies more and stop acting so stupid (sometimes), and seth, what can i say? I was starting to like him, then i saw him kinda lead her astray (subtlely). But i must say it was hard to put down and i can't wait for the next book.

Just as good as the first one, possibly better! I couldn't put Pure down once I started reading! I don't want to give anything away, but it's suspenseful, and you definitely see some relationship development between Alex and Aiden and Seth. You'll laugh, you'll yell, you'll cry...

wonderful book; I'm already eagerly awaiting the third book, Deity, and it won't be out for months.

So much better than the first book.
I gave Half-Blood a not so good review because I felt the book was unoriginal and rip-off of another series. But since the book did seem to pick up at the end I convinced myself to buy Pure. I'm glad I did. Even though there are still shades of other YA books, I felt the author did a much better job of making this story her own. I don't care much for the heroine in this series, I think she's immature and naive but I love Seth. For me, he is worth reading the series for. Personally I'm not a fan of the Aiden/Alex romance, even though in most books I always wish for the best when it comes to the star-crossed couple...yeah not so much here. I think for the first time ever, I'm going to be routing for the second guy.

    The series keeps getting better

4.5 stars! This was the best so far. A lot less predictable from the first couple, but still enough to keep it from getting 5 stars. The other item keeping this book from getting 5 stars is the editing. Perhaps it is just the nook edition, but after a while I started making notes about wrong words used and wrong characters mentioned. This is very distracting. I understand that this series follow a standard "hero" story pattern with a standard "love triangle" angle so there are certain things that a regular reader of such novels will expect. There seems to be one thing that bothers me a little. Alexandria. Don't get me wrong, I think she is awesome and is definitely getting a raw deal so far. What has me bothered is that she is routinely described as "irrational," "stubborn," "hot headed," and "out of control." Why is it that male warrior characters tend to be calm, cool, collected, and fierce and not females? Now, that being stated, her character traits are supposed to be based in myth and tied to her status as second Apollyon so I take it with a grain of salt. However, I am hoping that her character grows in her ability to assess situations and what will and will not pass as acceptable, thoughtful, and calculating. Overall, the installment is well written, the main characters have gained some depth and the relationships are really getting interesting. If you think about it when reading...write down or mark what the oracle tells Alex and keep it handy. [Spoiler Alert] The end of this one had me riveted! That was one awesome battle scene and I'm looking forward to see who survived and what is to come. Also I want to know what is with the half-blood servants with clear eyes. Are they undercover guards or plotters?

    “Aw, did you just fall?”
“No.” I rolled onto my back, wincing. “I attacked the floor.”
    ¿ Jennifer L. Armentrout, Pure

Being a half-blood Apollyon-in-training, is not all it is cracked up to be. Alex is “fated” to be Seth’s other half, but her heart and soul belongs to Aiden. Aiden is a Pure, and Pures and Half-Bloods are forbidden to be together. Aiden has choices and freedom, Alex doesn’t, when she Awaken’s she will want what Seth wants, she will no longer be Alex.

The intensity between Aiden and Alex is maddening. They are so close, but so far apart. Alex finds comfort in Seth. Through their bond Alex can tell that Seth is more than meets the eye. Can Alex be happy with Seth? Will fate find a way for her and Aiden to be together?

Jennifer L. Armentrout reels the reader deeper into the Hematoi world. There are schemes and plots developing that could mean the end of the world as we know it. Alex will protect those that she loves at any cost. Will the gods intervene, or will they continue to ignore them? There is danger around every corner and Alex always seems to find herself right in the middle of it. The reader will want to rise up and take arms right beside of Alex. Which side will you choose?
