I don't think I was as enamored with this book as other readers. This is a sci-fi romance, whith plenty of action and adventure. I was very excited to read this book when I initally bought it, but after reading I think I enjoyed the concept more than the execution. For me there was a disconnect that probably could have been remedy with a bit more detail. When I think about the book only being 89 pages (on my e-reader) and how much happened (several fight scenes, several love scenes, a change in location, and a couple of misunderstandings between the main characters) there was a lot that happened with minimal descriptive detail. There were a couple of times that I found myself rolling my eyes at Ariel, the heroine. For instance when she asks him why Ral (the alpha male) won't return her to his own world. At first she's "furious" but after a brief explanation from him that boiled to "ehh, I'm not sure if I could find it" and "you're mine", emotionally she capitulates since afterall she's known him a month and can't imagine life without him. If that's the case then what was there to be furious over in the first place? That was one place that a little more description of the true reasons behind the emotion would have helped. Maybe she was worried about being discarded by him on his planet; maybe she was upset because she'd received no reassurances from him in the time they traveled; maybe she thought about it and her life on Earth wasn't hard to leave behind for a variety of reasons? Editing wise, it could use a re-read. There were several spots where words were missing or an improper word was used. It didn't detract from the story, but it did get annoying after a while. Overall, nothing about this book made me want to read the next in the series or anything else by this author. The writing was just okay and the plot was not as fleshed out as it could have been. That's not to say I won't read something else if it catches my interest, but I certainly won't seek anything out by this author and I'll count my pennies before I buy another book by her.

The story was good but only about 85 pages and so I think it was very overpriced.

Good Series Intro.
Although I think $4.99 is a lot for a book less than 100 pages long, what was there was good. Very entertaining. Ariel's consent, when she first meets Ral, is dubious to say the least. But looking at it from his point of view, she belongs to him according to his laws and culture. He could do whatever he wanted to her, short of causing physical harm. The relationship does develop quickly, they go from near rape to love within a day or two. But I give Ariel credit for accepting what can't be changed, that her being there wasn't Ral's fault, so being miserable and nasty to him doesn't accomplish anything. She decides to make the best of things, and this in turn endears her to Ral.
Ral is possessive, controlling and protective. But Ariel stands up to him and does get him to change some of his ways. The communication problems that develop when the translator devices are removed are interesting. Usually in erotica romance communication places a far second to sex. It was refreshing to find an author who doesn't fear to put importance on clear communication between romantic leads.
The dialog sometimes is simplistic, but overall, I enjoyed the story and the characters. Laurann gives a lot of drama, love scenes and culture shock/clash in 90 pages. It was a great intro to the rest of the series, all of which I purchased and read after finishing this book. I read on Laurann's web site that she is planning on at least three more books for this series. I will be buying them as soon as they are available. Love those Zorn warriors.

The plot line for the whole story I thought was very captivating and unique. However, the story lacked details and only really described sex scenes in depth. It moved way too fast as well. It takes only a day or two for "I love you's" to come out, which really is a damper. The story could have been so much more, so epic, only if it had been approached by a style that was slower and not always focused on the sex. It only took me three hours to read as well. I would rather read a story well done, and long, than a short one that is poorly written.

The world of Zorn is made up of large hunky ALIENS!

This was the worse book I read in a long time! Why I bought two books from the same author at the same time without reading one first I'll never know. Here I am, lets have sex and oh by the way I love you. I don't know why I love you I just do because the sex wasn't that great, and you can't seem to put two words together but that doesn't matter. It must be your eyes I fell in love with I think but dah. I'm not sure because I can't understand what you're saying, and let me see was it the sex. I forget. Remind me again why I fell in love with you. Oh yes, it was the sex, I think or was it your eyes?

I picked this book up for free. The cover is OMG yummy, and the story is even better. If I was kidnapped by an alien, I'd pray for two things: he wants to keep and bond with me bad enough to fight to the death for me, AND he's gorgeous enough to salivate over! I'm definitely reading more of Ms Dohner's work!

Quite well written, though there are some editorial mistakes. There was an impressive amount of world-building for a rather short story, and the action moves the plot along quickly. Some of the dialogue sounds stilted, but given that the characters are communicating via translation devices, the awkwardness actually makes sense.

It's not too often that I take a scifi or erotica seriously enough to really dig into thr faults of such a story, but this one takes the cake. I find the consent of the heroine very troubling, to suddenly be abducted, raped, and then falling into some strange stolkholm* syndrome, where she's completely devoted to her possessor ina matter of days, all the while his possessive obsession seems to carry over in elements that become almost life-threatening ro her well-being. Many times I found myself almost shouting at how pathetic this heroine really was.
This story is weak in unique design, with worlds that were completely reflective of our own, with only minor detailed differences such as color choice of their natural elements. Any nine year old could have done the same with a box of crayons, which almost reflects what age the author could have been, if it weren't for the erotic content.
This story is trite at best, riddled with plot-holes, deliberate scenes of drama without an invested or logical means for taking place. Not a good book. Save your munz, please. >:[

I like this series and author, but this book is terribly hard to read at times due to poor editing. Some sentences make no sense. Other times the story contradicts itself. Two paragraphs have sentences that do not follow each other. It is quite distracting. Otherwise, the plot is intriguing and the characters are likeable.

I liked this story and intend to read the rest of the series. I'm looking forward to her other books. Some are calling it paranormal, I say sci-fy. It's romance with a twist. JS
