The latest Elder Race romantic urban fantasy is a great tale

Rune Ainissesthal the Wyr Sentinel and dying vampyre queen Carling Severan the sorceress made a deal. To save the life of his friend Tiago, Rune will do Carling's bidding.

Thus he flies cross country from New York to San Francisco. He finds out that Carling is losing control of her paranormal skills due to the serpent's kiss disease that destroys ancient vampyres like her. She invested time and resources to finding a cure, but as time runs out so far her endeavor has proven futile. While her supporters flee in fear of her unpredictable power and others prepare to betray her in a power grab, Rune tries to save the female he is falling in love with.

The latest Elder Race romantic urban fantasy (see Storm Heart and Dragon Bound) is a great tale in which Thea Harrison deftly merges vampyre political and social backstabbing machinations with a cross species romance. Time is of the essence as the Wyr and the Vamp fall in love while her followers either distance themselves from her or plot to speed up her death watch. Serpent's Kiss is an excellent thriller.

Just as excellent as the 1st two!

I really enjoyed reading about Rune & Carling. Their story brought tears to my eyes and made my stomach hurt - two high compliments! Their chemistry was smoking hot and I couldn't get through the book fast enough. Highly recommend. Although start with the 1st two books in the series which are also excellent.

    Great continuation!

This was a great continuation of the Elder Races series. This book a bit more complicated than the previous 2, but just as addictive. Serpents Kiss delves into the NightKind Demesne (Vampyres) whereas book one detailed the Wyr demesne and book two detailed the Dark Fae demesne. Carling was harder for me to relate to on an emotional level, but at the same time I think she was more interesting to me because of it. While most of the book is action packed - I kept laughing every time Rasputin was mentioned. I love the irony. I can't wait for Khalil's story. He was one of the most interesting characters we have met so far. Great job Thea!

Each book in this series is a little worse than the last, though the first one is still worth reading.

    great read

The Elder Race Series is a fun read. I really loved the first book, and I liked this one too. The only one that was a little slow was book 2. I am not much of a vampire book person, but for some reason I did like this book. Of course a hunky guy helps too. I also like the more detailed introduction to the character of Khalid, who was briefly mentioned in book 2, and will be the main hunky guy in book 4. I felt the growing relationship was well developed here, and felt interested in seeing how things ended up. The time travel could have been described a bit more, but overall I enjoyed this book. Can't wait for book 4, as the preview in the back of this book sounds really good.

    Go Ahead ¿ Bite Me!

I listened to this as an audiobook, narrated by Sophie Eastlake, so my review is based on that version.

This is the third book in the Elder Races series, but it could have been listened to without hearing the first two books, Dragon Bound and Storm’s Heart. There are references to things that happened in the first two books but not enough so that you would have been lost if you didn’t read them.

I really, really enjoyed this story! The suspense was awesome! I feel like this story of Carling and Rune will go down as one of the best in this series even if Sophie Eastlake writes 100 more.

In this story, the countdown for the end of Carling’s life is slowly ticking toward the final hour. Rune is determined not to let her go quietly into the night. When Carling goes into a ‘fade’ Rune finds that he is able to travel into her personal dreamland with her. He will be visiting some of the key points of her past, thus learning about her in a most intimate way. The closer he gets, the more she wants to push him away. Neither knows the dangers traveling to her past will bring, or what it could mean for the future.

    The Narration Review
This audiobook was narrated by Sophie Eastlake who was also the narrator for the first two books. I am getting used to her young sounding voice and she does do a good job on differentiating her character voices. I think I would classify her voice as tootsie pop drop, sweet like candy but chocolaty goodness in the heart of things.

Another Winner For Thea Harrison!!!!! Highly Recommended!!!!!

Rune is a HOT gryphon and Drago's first (Drago's & Pia's story was in the 1st book in this series.) Carling is a vampyre who was "serpent-kssed" centuries ago and a counilor with the Elder Races. For some inexplicable reason, she's dying... This is their story... a wonderful paranormal, with time-travel sequences, and oh-so-hot sex scenes. I can't recommend this series enough... Each of these books have been exemplary... I finished this one last night and just pre-ordered the next book in this series, Oracle's Moon. I can't hardly wait.

Awesome book! A must read for paranormal romance lovers!

I have loved all of The Harrison's books so far, and the newest in her Elder Races series doesn't disappoint! I won't give anything away, but I will say that it has some great segways. I also enjoy that the characters from earlier books are either mentioned or make an appearance in the following books, as well as setting up the characters for her next book. I can't wait for Oracle's Moon!

    Highly recommended seriesir

All 3 books in the series are great reads built with alpha males capable of thinking & emotion, strong females who have a great sense of humor and our real world well detailed- but built with a twist. The author has intruiged with a balance of romance and suspense but doesnt give away the answer until the end of the story. This third book is my fav of the series so far & will be recommending the series to everyone I know! Counting days till March 2012 for the next book!

    Highly Recommended

Recently heard of this author and started reading her Elder Races Series. Absolutely love the series -- if you have not read the earlier books, I would not start with this one. The 3rd book in the series had a different change of pace and focused more on the background of to 2 main characters in order to address the present. Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

    Wonderful

I am in love with this series. The characters aren't your typical paranormal romance characters. Especially Carling. It was refreshing. Too often I find that romance books have the same type of character over and over again. In each of these books the characters seem to truly have their own personality. From start to finish, it will not disappoint. But I do strongly suggest you begin with book #1. Enjoy!
