Valente's skills as a writer never cease to amaze me. "Silently" is a dense, surreal science fiction fable rich with metaphor and myth. The entire story takes place within a constantly shifting dreamscape as the narrator -- an AI -- negotiates its evolving identity and Self. Highly recommended to all of Valente's fans, as well those searching for a thinking person's sf tale. -- lyradora
