    Fantastic new series!

Zoe Merrick is your average human brutally attacked and left for dead after a night out with her best friend. She wakes up in an ambulance, in a body bag and drenched in blood. She flees for her life and passes out at the feet of a stranger who takes her home and nurses her back to health.

Zoe knows, deep down, that she's on borrowed time and whomever did this to her is still out there and he's looking for her.

Throw in plenty of intrigue, delicious men, fight for your life adrenaline and one Creator who truly gets what he deserves and you have a promising series that gets better and more laugh out loud funnier with every book. Take a chance and buy this book and watch Zoe's strange new world build with every book. Best new series I have found all year.

    Loved IT!

This book kept popping up on Amazon on my “suggestion” list. It also came up a lot in the book club that I’m a part of and they all raved about it. So I bought it and began to read it the day of purchase. OMG!! I devoured the book and immediately purchased the second book "Twist" (review to come soon)!

Where to start? Though this is the first book in a series, you’re not inundated with information to assist in the world building. As with other series where one of the characters is “learning” about the new world they have been thrusted into, we learn as Zoe learns.

Speaking of Zoe…. She is smart and independent. She is a survivor! She fights until she can’t anymore and even then, she’s still trying. Her world as she knew it is gone. Abandoned and left for dead she finds a guardian angel in Adam who helps her in her time of need. They form a friendship and both are learning of the changes that are occurring to and with Zoe.

But Adam isn't the only man to come to Zoe’s aide. She meets Justus by chance and there begins her induction to the Mageri world. To assist Justus in her training, he brings his friend Simon in. Together, they all try to help Zoe overcome her past and survive her future.

Though labeled “Urban Fantasy”, Dannika doesn't stay within the lines of the genre making this an extremely interesting read with elements of Urban Fantasy, Paranormal and Romance. Her writing style is smooth, easy to follow and extremely entertaining. Dannika brings her characters to life with individual personalities and traits which include sarcasm, sassiness, humor, mystery, smarts, brooding, bad-ass etc. It’s truly a breath of fresh air. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention, silly me! The guys… HOT!

I could tell you more but that would be a spoiler and we wouldn't want that, now would we?

    Incredible Read!

Before I could blink the book was finished. This was a great story and flowed wonderfully well for me. I have read all the books in the series now - in less than a weekend - simply because I could not put them down. I am truly looking forward to reading more by this author.

Gah! Why did I wait so long to read this?!? I'm ever so grateful

Gah! Why did I wait so long to read this?!? I'm ever so grateful my friend, Lexxie, from (un)Conventional Bookviews, kept raving about this series. I've been meaning to read it for ages because I knew if Lexxie loved it, I would love it. And guess what? I thoroughly enjoyed my introduction to the world of the Mageri!

Ms. Dark did some fine worldbuilding in Sterling. The world of the Mageri is rather complex, the characters even more so. It's the mark of great craftsmanship, in my opinion, when the world and people come to life so vividly. And the characters were very vivid for me - to the point of having defined accents and vocal inflections.

Zoë Merrick is an average 29 year old -- a stable job, a great best friend and a sweet cat. One night, on her way home, all that changes. Zoë is brutally attacked and wakes up in a body bag. Once she makes her way out of that, she's running for her life. And literally runs into Adam Razor.

Adam is a kind and gentle man. He's nurturing by nature and takes it upon himself to care for Zoë. He's protective and demonstrative in his feelings for Zoë. And he's hot! When he takes her on a business trip, Zoë happens upon Justus. Justus knows what Zoë now is. He can answer her questions and teach her about her new life. And he can protect her which, as it turns out, is something Adam, as a human, can't do. Justus then takes over as caretaker for Zoë. He's stoic and serious - especially regarding his responsibilities to Zoë. Oh, and he's hot!. While with Justus, Zoë meets Simon, whom she has connection with. Simon is quick-witted and intelligent, and hot! All three of these men want to take care of and protect Zoë. But Zoë has never been take care of. She's tough, spirited and independent because she's always taken care of herself. Funny, once she's no longer human, she manages to end up with three caretakers. And although Zoë likes the feeling security, she doesn't necessarily want to be taken care of.

The story revolves around Zoë's initiation into her new life and world, as well as her new friends' attempts at keeping her away from the man who has claim to her. There are lots of details - all necessary - in creating Zoë's world. The story never gets bogged down though. I was flying through it. All the characters have incredible depth. And the interaction between Zoë and all her men is full of snarky banter and genuine feeling.

Well-drawn characters, richly defined worldbuilding, a kick-ass heroine, lots of snark, and more hot guys than you can shake a stick at, all make for excellent reading! I absolutely loved it! My only regret after finishing Sterling, besides not having read it sooner, is that I can't sit down with the entire series immediately! :)

Good story line. A new direction in paranormal suspensful romance. Entertaining dialog and a plot that twists and turns and keeps you guessing. I recommend this series as well worth your time and money.

An enthralling read!! Sterling is book one in the Mageri series

    An enthralling read!!

Sterling is book one in the Mageri series, and I couldn't have enjoyed it more! Dannika Dark sucks you in from page one, introducing you to strong characters and a whole new world filled with the supernatural. Ms. Dark is amazing at pulling you through the pages of her book, so that it feels as if you're right there with the characters as the entire plot unfolds.

Zoe, A.K.A. Silver, is the heroine in this superb novel and I liked her immediately! She's a sassy, sarcastic, smart, independent woman that doesn't take any crap from anyone. I don't know if I've ever come across a character like her; one that goes through such an immense transformation emotionally and physically. There's a lot of character growth here.

Silver's life changes dramatically when she is attacked one night on her way back to her apartment and she is left for dead. The attack was bizarre and frightening, and just one of the many startling events that will have you holding your breath throughout this book! Silver's human life ends the night she is killed, and she's left to piece together what exactly happened to her and what it all means.

Silver is a Mage, which means that she can manipulate energy, and do some other things that are pretty cool! But just because she has new abilities doesn't mean that she's untouchable, especially since she finds herself being hunted by some pretty nasty villains, including the man that brutally attacked her and turned her life upside-down. But luckily, she's got some kickass new friends that are there to help her cope along the way.

Now, when I say that Silver has some new friends, what I really mean is that she is now surrounded by a very HOT buffet of men that care about her in different ways! You've got, Adam, the caring and protective guy that swoops in at the very beginning to be there for Silver; you have Justus, the man that volunteers to be Silver's "Ghuardian" who is literally a walking sex magnet; then you have Simon, who is so dirty-minded and hilarious that he is guaranteed to make you laugh no matter what! I absolutely love these guys and they seriously warmed my heart with how much they care about Silver and how protective they are of her.

As much as I laughed during this book and swooned over the various men in Silver's life, I also really enjoyed having the pants scared off of me by the evil characters that plague this novel! These vile men put Silver through absolute hell, and at times the things that were happening to her were so intense and felt so real that it made me pretty emotional. I was literally on the edge of my seat! But the ending of this book left me with a victorious smile and the assurance that Silver will continue to blow me away, because it is clear that her story is far from over!

    Great author to check out!

Strong female protagonist and a strong set of supporting characters make the Mageri Series read. Sterling is the first and while a bit slow, shows strong writing and character development. Her writing only gets better in the other books in the series! A definite don't miss for supernatural romance readers.

    Well worth 3x the price!

This is a fun and intriguing series. I enjoyed the first book and can't wait to read the rest. I love it when a book doesn't tip it's hand too soon because then it becomes a slave to repetition and thus becomes predictable.
