Overview

Mother, teacher, wanton she-demon

Welcome to my life. I’m Lilith Straight, Hell’s newest employee. Although I’m getting pretty good at letting the succubus inside me take over, life in Hell is never easy. Miss Spry is up to her old tricks. She promised to let me save my daughter from my fate, but only if I can tempt my next client.

That’s how I end up horns-to-halo with a guardian angel determined to rescue my next victim. To make matters worse, William Benedict, the hottest demon in Hell, is trying to undermine my mission with some temptations of his own…

Nothing is ever what you expect in Hell, but really I should have known that already!

Praise for Michelle Scott

'I would definitely recommend Straight to Hell to anyone who’s looking for a relatively quick read – something fast paced, something funny with a bit of a twist and some paranormal elements.' - Books, Biscuits and Tea on Straight to Hell

'There were so many twists in the plot that I didn't see coming, that the novel definitely kept me on my toes, and it kept moving at such a pace that there wasn't a single point in the book where I was bored in the slightest.' - Pen to Paper on Straight to Hell

'one of those books that you want to spend some time thinking about after you are done reading, you want to think about what you would have done in Lilith's shoes, and let me tell you she has so seriously difficult to walk in. This is one of those books where you want to get together with a couple of your girlfriends afterward and talk about the book at length.' - Urban Fantasy Reviews on Straight to Hell

'loved the humor in this book and actually caught myself laughing out loud a few times while getting strange looks from my family.' - Shut Up & Read on Straight to Heaven

The second installment in the Lilith Straight series did not disappoint. Just as Lilith thinks she has things under control as a succubus, her world once again is pulled out from under her. After a run in with an angel bent on keeping her from succeeding on her current task and a contest against oh so yummy William about who will complete the task first, Lilith has to get creative in order to achieve her goal.

I love the take on Angels and Demons in this series. It's a different twist than the usual. Even though Lilith is technically a demon, or at least has one living in her, everything she does is for a greater good. She does what she has to do to survive and keep her daughter safe even if she does not necessarily like it.

I really liked that we got to see more of Ariel and her situation in this story. I really caught myself feeling sorry for her as the story progressed and I was glad that Lilith was there for her.

I also loved the humor in this book and actually caught myself laughing out loud a few times while getting strange looks from my family. I cannot wait to see where this story goes with Lilith and her new tricks, William and his newfound feelings, Tommy and Jasmine.

(I was given this book for free on a read-to-review basis, as part of the ‘straight to heaven’ blog tour.)
This is book two in the ‘Lilith Straight’ series. **Warning** unavoidable spoilers for book 1 ‘straight to hell’.
Lilith is now on to her 19th seduction. She hates being a succubus, but anything is better than her 8 year-old daughter Grace having to do the job instead. Lilith is still as determined as ever to try and get out of her contract, she just has to find the right way to do it!

Thankfully she has her house back though, and has even put in a pool. Money isn’t so tight anymore due to large amounts appearing in her account every so often, although now she has her old nosey neighbours to deal with again, as well as the ex-husband who seems to live to irritate her, and her niece Ariel and her shoplifting habit.

Seduction No 19 is turning out to be more trouble than expected too. How hard can it be to convince someone to mail a parcel when they are already at the post office? Extremely difficult if it turns out that said person has a sneaky guardian angel watching over them!

Having failed the first time, Miss Spry offers an incentive to try and keep Lilith motivated – complete this job, and Lilith’s contract will be changed so that her daughter Grace never has to become a succubus.
With the stakes massively raised, Lilith must try to complete this job, but with an incubus also on the same assignment, and pesky guardian angels saving the day, can she really complete this seduction, and save Grace from the same fate?

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a definite cross between urban fantasy and chick lit, and it really works!

Lilith is once again her bubbly, witty self, and always continues on no matter what the circumstance. She continues to fight for the people she loves – Grace, Ariel, Jasmine, Tommy, and refuses to accept anything but a full relationship with the lovely William. (Can’t wait to find out what happens here!)

Miss Spry seemed to be not so overwhelmingly evil in this instalment, she offered incentives! and we heard quite a lot from her assistant Mr Clerk, who seemed to have a few secrets of his own. There were also some discoveries with regard to Lilith’s birth and death, and a teaser at the end for the next book!

I liked the storyline. It was nice that the story focused on just one temptation that proved to be harder than expected, and also had in
there all the day-to-day happenings in Lilith’s hectic life! The story was fast paced and kept me entertained and involved all the way through, this book is anything but boring!

Now the good news: we only have to wait ‘til December to find out what happens next! Yay!

Overall: A great combination of urban fantasy and chick lit!
    8 out of 10.
