Overview

When Chicago's Hottest Snack Cake Heir...
Josh Kincaid went from rags to riches when he was adopted by the family who owns the Sweet Dreams Snack Cakes empire. But now the company is floundering, and Josh will do anything to save his parents the way they saved him. Including using his charm on a small-town wedding cake baker.

Takes on the Misfit Princess of the Bridal Capital of the Midwest...
Kimmie is flighty, she spouts off weird dreams when she's nervous, and her frizzy hair and fashion sense make her the girl least likely to snare a debonair snack cake heir. But Kimmie can bake a cake that'll make a grown man cry, and that's exactly what Josh needs.

They Just Might Find The Recipe for Love
Josh's plan should be easy, except Kimmie isn't all cupcake underneath. Her cooperation comes with a price. If Josh wants to save his family's company, he'll have to do something he's never done: be himself.

Cupcakes have never been so terrifying.

Kimmie is quirky & funny and stays true to herself through to the end & Josh is her perfect foil. He genuinely gets her. This was a quick, fun book; i didn't want it to end!

Sugared is the fourth book in Jamie Farrell’s The Misfit Brides of Bliss series. I’ve read all of the books in the series and I think Sugared is my favorite so far. At first I didn’t like Kimmie’s quirkiness but she grew on me and I began to love her. From the outset I liked Josh. My heart went out to him with what he’d endured as a child and possibly faced with the future of his family’s bakery business. I loved his fierceness and how he stood up for Kimmie. Ms. Farrell can definitely write the humor and I laughed more than I can say. Both Kimmie and Josh have pasts they have to deal with and I enjoyed how she weaved everything up into the ending. This is a standalone novel but I suggest reading the other books in the series. I’d like to disclose that I received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to reading many more stories in the Misfit Brides series.

I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I've been waiting for Kimmie's story and I was not disappointed. She's such a wonderful character and I just love the dreams she just blurts out. She's comes off on the kooky side, but there is more to her then meets the eye. Josh, I wanted to dislike him because he he has his own agenda, but then you get to see him with Kimmie and every judgment you made about him does a complete 180. You want someone like him in Kimmie's corner. I laughed so much while reading this and I so needed that right now. I loved Kimmie's cats. How appropriate their behavior was. I'm so in love with the epilogue. For me that topped the cake for me for this book. If you haven't read a Jamie Farrell book you're so missing out. I highly recommend grabbing this book. You're going to love it.

Kimmie Elias is a wedding cake/cupcake designer extraordinaire. She is adored by the citizens of Bliss, the wedding capital of the U.S. She is also awkward, insecure, and shares her bizarre dreams with others when she finds herself in an uncomfortable situation (which is often). Kimmie creates her culinary masterpieces at Heavenly Bakery, a family business run by her mother "General Mom". General Mom is the "Queen" of Bliss, in charge of all things wedding related. General Mom is also a bully and not so loved by the citizens of Bliss, especially those who have businesses on The Aisle. Josh Kincaid is the "secret" half owner of Heavenly Bakery. His family business Sweet Dreams Snack Cakes is in BIG trouble and Josh is secretly searching to a few cupcake recipes to save the family business. He was adopted by the Kincaids when he was 11 and will do anything to pay the family back. So he negotiates a deal with Kimmie. he will give her money to buy out her mother's share of the bakery for 5 delicious recipes. Josh keeps turning up in Kimmie's life at every turn, and as fate would have it, they become "engaged" with plans to get married during Bliss's annual Knot Fest, a week long extravaganza filled with all things wedding related. Kimmie has never been "wooed" and finds herself falling for this "unflavored cupcake", but somehow the man in Josh begins to show himself. She begins to see the filling inside the cupcake and the wonderful buttercream frosting richness of the man he really is. But Josh is only in this game for the final results: 5 viable recipes that will save the family business. Kimmie has been one of my flavorite characters since this series began. Her awkwardness within touches that gawky person in each of us. The dreams she blurts out at uncomfortable times made me LOL. The love and support of the others in Bliss was so heartwarming. My heart hurt for her lack of a mother/daughter relationship, which is one of the greatest gifts on earth. I loved all of the books in this series, but Kimmie made this one extra delicious.

All I have to do is picture Kimmie to bring a smile to my face. She's fun and quirky. Josh needs Kimmie to help save the bakery. Together they work, trying to save the bakery, and they find something else. This book is full of humor, which I love in a book. A great book to read more than once!

I have been waiting for Kimmie's story since she was first introduced in Blissed. She is such a fun character to read about. She is so quirky and her dreams are laugh out loud funny! Josh is the silent partner in the bakery and wants Kimmie's cupcake recipes to help save his snack cake company. Josh and Kimmie's are perfect for each other. If you are looking for a sweet, fun, laugh so hard your eyes water romance then this is the book for you!

I have been anxiously awaiting Kimmie's book since I read her first interactions in Bliss. I could not wait to see just what was in store for her on her way to her happily ever after. Based on her reactions in previous books to her mother's "silent" partner, I was hoping he would be her hero. What I hoped for doesn't even come close to how perfect Josh is for Kimmie. Kimmie has a tendency to spout off embarrassing dreams when she's nervous. Most people see her as the slightly crazy girl who's that way because of her General Mom. Josh comes back and sees past her embarrassment and awkwardness to the woman she is underneath all of that. He also has slightly crazy dreams and shares them with her. They are perfect for each other, after they navigate through his ownership in the bakery and also wanting Kimmie's recipes to help save Josh's parents' snack cake empire. I loved everything about this book, from relating to all of the social awkwardness of Kimmie, to the perfection of Josh for her, to getting them to realize their love for each other. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Kimmie is a breath of fresh air. She is quirky, loyal, funny – everything you want in a friend – and she is surrounded by a unique family growing up in Bliss. She has a pureness about her that gives you hope for the world which is surprising as we interact with her mother that truly is a tyrant. Marilyn, General Mom, can be frustrating but in this book we do learn where her bullying ways come from, she is protecting her heart from another great loss but sadly she misses out on enjoying life with her daughter. Kimmie gets stuck between her mother and the “silent partner”, Josh, in the bakery. As her mother pushes her to seduce his ownership in the bakery away from him, Kimmie struggles to make her mother happy while staying true to herself and trying to overcome the feelings of being unworthy. Josh never saw Kimmie coming, he has worked so hard to hide his heart from the world after all the important people in his life keep leaving him, but Kimmie just might crack his shell. Josh has a bigger problem, his adopted family’s business is in crises so he’s trying to use his ownership in the bakery to find a way to save it. Could he lose his heart in the process? Will Kimmie find the confidence to stand up to her mother? Kimmie and Josh are wonderful together, both have issues from their childhood to overcome, there is a beautiful balance in how Kimmie loosens up Josh while he finds way to boost her confidence. This book is a breath of fresh air and was a joy to read.

Kimmie had really done it this time. She destroyed a wedding cake at her friend's wedding in Bliss. Now she was waiting to see if General Mom was going to fire her from Heaven's Bakery. General Mom arrived and told her that her punishment was going to be to get Josh Kincaid's sare of the bakery back by seducing him. She told Kimmie she needed to embrace her Blythe blood and just do it. Kimmie has always been socially awkward but she is truly loved in Bliss. Her friends do whatever they can to see that she is protected. Kimmie has hidden depths and has more spine that even she realizes. Josh and Kimmie's story was an absolute delight to read. I laughed. I cheered for Kimmie. I wanted to wake Josh up to what was right before him. I cried for both Kimmie and Josh. Josh's confident veneer is hiding pain that he doesn't even admit to himself. Kimmie is more capable than anyone realizes especially General Mom. Jamie Farrell has written a book that is a joy to read and provides plenty of entertainment!

Kimmie is different some would say weird with her many off the way dreams and her word spouting when she get nervous. She might be a little on the strange side but in a good fun loving way. Josh comes across as a hard man but really he is just a fun loving man trying to protect those he loves. This is one author that knows how to reach your funny bone as she gives you Kimmie and Josh’s story. Her mother the Queen General as she is known is a hard woman. She has kept Kimmie under her thumb all her life. She controls everything even the town and she wants Kimmie married that is to anyone but Josh. She is pushing every single man in town at her daughter, young, old, poor, even uneducated one will do. Mother General wants her part of the bakery back and Josh out of the picture and doesn’t care how it is done. Which makes some funny scenes as Kimmie and Josh dance around each other both wanting something that neither is willing to give. I really loved this book it isn’t my favorite of this series but it is packed with laughs as you are cheering and watching Josh puts Kimmie’s mother in her place. No one but no one has been able to get one over on Kimmie’s mother she is well known for runs everyone’s life like the Queen General she is. When you add one nervous lady who spouts weird things out of her mouth with a very sexy confident man who isn’t afraid to stand up giving back what she has always given others you have one outstanding funny read. This is one author that takes her unique sense of humor spinning it into a story that will make you laugh out loud. This can be a standalone but to really get the full impact of Kimmie’s mother you need to read the whole series. I highly recommend anything this author writes. If you love to smile, laugh and just feel good you do not want to miss this series.

Sugared is super sweet story!!!!!!! Jamie Farrell has a way of making the reader laugh and squeal and fall in love with the characters! Kimmie is a hot mess that we can all relate to on one level or another. She is probably my favorite of the Misfit brides......I feel in love with her quirkiness in the very first book! I am so glad to see her find a man who gets her! Josh is a guy we all love to hate....until we get to know the real deal Josh not the Josh-juan. Great fun read you won't want to put down!!!!!!

What a fun story! Sugared by Jamie Farrell is the fourth book in the Misfit Brides Series. We meet Kimmie and Josh in previous books and while Kimmie is a constant character in the other books, Josh is pretty new to all of us. If you are looking for a sugary sweet romance story, this book is for you. To be honest, I was nervous about reading Sugared. I loved the other books in the series and I adore Farrell’s writing, but Kimmie was never a character I really connected with. She was a little annoying in the other stories to me. Not in a mean way – just a little awkward and different than heroines I like to read about. You could probably say her character is a little too close to reality. I trust Farrell and knew that I would be getting a good story, plus I really wanted to know how she would write Kimmie’s romance so thats why I decided to go for it. Kimmie is Kimmie. She is not your typical heroine. She is a sheltered woman who is awkward and quirky and skittish (loved that description from Mrs. Kincaid) but nice and loyal and has an amazing heart. She loves people. She loves to bake cake for people. She loves the joy it brings them. It was great to see how everyone in Bliss absolutely loves her and would do anything for her (except perhaps stand up to her mother). Who wouldn’t want to see a character like that get her happy ever after? And then there is Josh. The hottie snack cake romeo who owns half of her Mother’s Bakery and is a thorn in General Mom’s side. I wasn’t a fan of his at the beginning because he was not very nice to Kimmie. Starting out I couldn’t figure out how Farrell would ever make the two of these characters work, but slowly and steadily she did. Farrell does a wonderful job of building Josh and Kimmie’s romance. The ups and downs along the way are realistic to the plot and I enjoyed how true to characters Farrell stayed with both of them. While it annoyed me how often Kimmie and Josh lied and faked their way through the relationship, I know that feeling was because I wanted them to stop the charade and get together for real since I knew what both of them were thinking. When reading a series, it’s always a joy to read about characters from previous books and watching Lindsay, Natalie and others from earlier books in the Misfit Brides series stand up for Kimmie, was awesome. It warmed my heart to see the true friendship and makes me want to read their books all over again! If you are looking for a heart warming, sweet, contemporary romance, give Sugared a try!

Dear Ms Farrell, Thank you for writing Sugared. It kept me laughing all morning. The wait for Kimmie and Josh's story was so worth it. That's what I'd write to Ms Farrell. To anyone reading this I say Jamie Farrell has gifted us with an awesome, well written book. Sugared is full of humor, a drop of drama and a sprinkle of spice. The characters are amazing and lovable. The dialog is fantastic and will keep you engaged. I enjoyed every page of this fun book and look forward to reading more from the talented Jamie Farrell in the future. Sugared is book 4 in the Misfit Brides of Bliss Series and can be read as a standalone. I suggest reading the whole series though so you don't miss out on any of the hilarity. Sugared is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Josh and Kimmie make my heart happy. Between the Kimmie sayings and the antagonizing going on throughout the book you're sure to laugh a lot. I mean like laugh your pants off laugh!! So much tenderness and joy between them. But it isn't all cupcakes and happy endings. Josh is terrified to let anyone in and love them. And he only needs her recipients to save his families business. But there is just something about this quirky and natural cupcake princess that speaks to him. And he doesn't quite know what to do with it. When things get rough and Josh questions everything can he make sense of it all without Kimmies special view of things? Can he open up himself to the possibility of the greatest love he could ever know? Kimmie is the silly, crazy dreamed daughter of General Mom. And she has always felt like she wasn't good enough. But when she agrees to this farce presented and spends more time with Josh, he sees her. The real her. And understands her. So what can she do but fall in love with Chicago's hottest bachelor. Who could never really love her uniqueness and let her into his heart. But when things become sticky and go bad, will she be able to stand on her own without his support?

I am not a very humorous person but reading Jamie Farrell's books never fail to make me laugh. Her books are quirky and hilarious, yet her characters are not lame. They are full of personality and just endear the reader to them. Sugared, is by far, the quirkiest and most hilarious book I have read. Kimmie may seem like an extremely weird person who dreams weird dreams and sprouts them out to anyone listening when she is nervous (which is most of the time whenever General Mom is around). Josh started out with only one goal - to get Kimmie's recipes to save his adoptive parents' failing company. Never did he imagine that he would fall in love with someone as weird as Kimmie. But he is the only man who truly understands Kimmie and accepts her for who she is. But he has a reason for not wanting to accept that he is in love with her. I've never laughed so much reading a book and I just can't wait to read more books by Jamie Farrell.

Sugared by Jamie Farrell is sugar on top of my cake, this is one of the best books I have read in awhile. I have been waiting for Kimmie's story and boy Jamie did not disappoint us. I loved watching Kimmie and Josh story unfold through this entertaining book. This story is fun, sweet, with lots of laugh out loud moments and great characters. I say with each book I read by Jamie Farrell that this is my favorite, so I don't think she can write a book that I do not love. Jamie is by far one of my favorite authors. If you have not read this series you definitely want to read it, but you can read this book as a standalone. I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Jamie Farrell lived up to the title with this one. It's hard to walk away from this story without a toothy grin. Josh (the eye candy) has lived a story book life. He was adopted by a family that had it all, a successful business, money and lots of love to give. But now years later, his family is on the verge of losing it all. Unless, he can save them. To do that he needs a plan, a baker and faith. Love was never in the plan but might just be the icing on the cake. Jamie Farrell writes hysterical stories that have the full package: drama, comedy and heart. The reason Sugared worked so well is that Josh needed to realize that he was essential to the family. Kimmie helped him realize that love is what makes a family not blood. No matter how many times I come across that concept in a story I never get tired of it. I received an ARC of Sugared in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely adored this 4th book in the Misfit Bride Series. I've been waiting to read Kimmie's story from the very first time we met her way back in Blissed & this book made her come alive. She is sweet, quirky, dedicated, & just plain fun & its so amazing to watch her really take control of her life. The dynamic between Kimmie & her love interest Josh is so adorable, they are both a little clumsy at the whole love thing & the results will keep you laughing. Jamie Farrell has quickly become a favorite author, her writing gives a much needed break from everyday life. Her characters are real & heartwarming. Book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

This story had plenty of LOL moments but, it was also heartwarming, sweet and sexy! One of my favorite lines is "I can be more than unflavored cake batter, please let me try"! Sugared is book three in The Misfit Brides of Bliss series by Jamie Farrell. This book was generously provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am such a huge fan of Jamie Farrell’s books. They are filled with humor, romance, some sexy times, and characters that will find a place in your heart and hold on tight. There is something about this book that went beyond every one of her books thus far. I swooned, I laughed, I got angry, and my heart pounded for these two characters. I could not put the book down. I met Kimmie Elias in the previous books in the series and already loved this quirky, wonderful woman. But in this book, I fell for her even more. Kimmie is the daughter of the owner of Bliss’s wedding bakery, Heaven’s Bakery. Kimmie, though, has a gift for making cakes (and cupcakes) that will change your life. Her mother, Marilyn, aka Queen General, aka General Mom, owns half of the bakery. She runs it like a military base. Everyone fears her, including Kimmie. In the previous books in the series we heard of the new silent partner of Heaven’s Bakery. The man that owned the other fifty percent. We finally get to meet him. His name is Josh Kincaid. When Josh was very young, his mother died and Josh was put into the system. When things went bad in his foster homes, he took to the streets. At age eleven he was found by the Kincaids who adopted him and gave him a wonderful home. The Kincaids own the snack cake empire, Sweet Dreams. But after all these years, their company is in trouble. The Kincaids saved Josh’s life and he will do whatever it takes to help get the company back on it’s feet. And that includes wooing some very tasty cupcake recipes out of a very popular baker in Bliss. One whose mother will do anything to get back the other fifty percent of her bakery. “Her life had turned into one of those messes like when the mixer got turned on too fast with no shield and cake batter splattered all over and nobody had time to clean it up, and by the time they did, it would be crusted on the walls and even harder to scrub off.” What happens when you put together a very quirky baker and a one of the hottest eligible bachelors of Chicago? Chaos is what you get. Josh and Kimmie enter into a fake relationship, Josh needing the cupcake recipes and Kimmie’s mom wanting her to woo Josh out of the other half of their bakery. But the more time these two spend together, the more they start to see the real person under all the frosting. Where Josh started out just needing the recipes for his family’s company, it became so much more. He wanted to protect Kimmie from her mother. He wanted Kimmie to be able to grow and flourish without the shadow of General Mom. But there are also deep insecurities on both parts. Feeling that they are not good enough, that they are unlovable. “There was something sexy about a woman in her element, doing what she was born to do. Kimmie was born to bake cakes. To share sweet delicacies with the world. To spread joy and happiness and life with the world.” I just want to say that this book grabbed my heart and never let go all the way through. Kimmie and her crazy dreams, her crazy clothes, her crazy cats, and a heart as big as all of Illinois. And who wouldn’t love Josh. The man who worried if he finally gave someone his heart, that they would leave him in one way or another. That didn’t feel like he was good enough for her.
