Meet the Author

Terri Brisbin

After being a voracious reader all of her life and a writer for most of it, Terri found romance novels (again) when she read Julie Garwood's The Prize in 1991. Then in late 1994 she began writing romance fiction. Her first novel, Secrets in the Game, remains hidden under her bed waiting for a good time to make an appearance. However, it's her second novel, A Love Through Time, that was her debut in November 1998 from Jove Time Passages.

Featured in the New York Times, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Camden Courier-Post, Terri appeared on NBC's The Today Show in May 2002 and appeared on cable's Lifetime network's Our Home Show in the spring of 1997. Her fifth book, The Dumont Bride, was a Harlequin Historical release in November 2002.

In real life, Terri is a wife and a mom of three boys and lives in southern New Jersey. During her years as a registered dental hygienist, she also served as editor of several professional newsletters and journals. Serving as president of the New Jersey Romance Writers for 2002 and 2003, Terri is also a member of Romance Writers of America, Washington D.C. and the Valley Forge local chapters as well as the Beau Monde special interest chapter and Novelists, Inc. She's also one of the organizers of the ToBeez (aka the Rising Stars of Romance), an email loop/support network for authors who have sold their first book and are yet-to-be-published.

    Dramatic, Realistic, and Humane

I would definitely recommend this to readers with high emotional sensitivity and maturity. For a book of this genre and stereotypical label, I think the author was able to raise the bar slightly. Characters were nicely rounded with no dramatic shifts in personality (i.e. 180 degree changes or out of character events). Love was acquired slowly and each step towards that ultimate goal was definitive. The female protagonist put me a little off at times since I could not clearly see any improvement in her role as lady of the house as she was when she lived her in father's keep. Connor, however, was an exceptional character and I do appreciate the humane view of love that will never die, but one is able to learn to find within himself the ability to love again. The plot was complex organization of typical plots, but I do think the high emotional stimulation gave it originality. The book could have gotten 5 stars for me if secondary characters that were placed under emphasis were to be given an ending (i.e. Rurik and his past including his discomfort around Rhona; Duncan) unless the title was to be serialized.

    not romantic!

141 pages in to a book of 204 pages in length and his romantic feelings are still not there. By then you don"t care for his charactor at all. hiHis unwanted bride cannot even garner any compassion when her mother dies. Came away from this one just wishing the heroine could have left him.

    not that good

This book was boring and very drawn out. Also sort of confusing...would not recommend! I didn't like either of the main characters.
