The Irish born architect needs a professional cleaning service to help him literrally clean up his life after a nasty divorce, but he winds up finding a true friend in LaToya, the owner of It's An Honor Cleaning Service.

The second book review is about The Ugly Girlfriend. I know I'm late in reviewing it, since this is the first book in The Lonely Heart Series, but I'm just glad that I finally read it. I happen to do things differently sometimes. I love that Mrs. Nelson always tackles a different topic in each of her books. How many times do we deny ourselves because of our own insecurities? Well, LaToya Jenkins is no exception. Compared to her friends, she is the odd one out, especially when it comes to men. Ev

I came across this book by accident, and I was glad I did. This book struck several personal cords with me. 1) It was about a black woman, 2) she was not your typical size 6; she was actually a size 14, and 3) she always felt like she did not fit in with her circle of friends. Because I was able to relate to LaToya on a personal level I was able to thoroughly enjoy the book.
This was an interracial romance, and I was glad the author didn’t take the typical path of black woman meets

Great Book for $3, Worth Every Penny

I had a pretty lonely Christmas myself, but this book kept me wrapped up from front to finish. I saw it first on Amazon but since I bought myself a Nook, I took a chance here. It was well worth the $3. And it has amazing reviews all over the Internet. For those who might wonder, the book is actually 125 pages.

    The Ugly Girlfriend...Surprisingly Good!

I'm something of a novelty to this genre. A white man who like books about white men and black women. LOL! You would think that there would be millions of us all with our own short list of favorite IR authors. Well, unbelievably so, I am a rarity, but I'm true to genre. I have a black wife and I have recently acquired a taste for these very SPECIFIC types of books. My wife introduced this author to me and I have recently purchased all of her books along with Stephanie Morris and Erosa Knowles. I'm told that these are best of the best. Time and patience will help me see if this is a correct statement or not.

Off of my rant and my introduction into this world of faceless critics, I started off my journey with Latrivia Nelson with the first book of her popular series and I'm hooked. From a man's point of view, The Ugly Girlfriend was an easy, short read that got to the point, several points in fact. Her choice of situations, the underlying issues and overt modern racism gave it a relevancy in this society that can only be articulated by dark, dark black women and the men who love them. As the other half of a beautiful marriage to woman as midnight as midnight and as beautiful as the rising son, I am proud to have found an author who based upon her website is by all accounts HOT, write about women who have been forcefully and unfairly pushed into such an unfortunate category and sprinkled with nasty little stereotypes.

Mrs. Nelson intrigues me. I've read the reviews. She's been called everything from promising, to the best in the genre to the worst author who ever wrote a damned book. In my opinion, she is a true artist who captures the world in these incredible little stories that evoke serious thought. That's what art is about, evoking thought. And she does it well. I'll be buying all of her books for a long time. By the way, The Ugly Girlfriend was a great story.

    WoW

I loved this book. I was able to relate to the main character LaToya Jenkins, as well being on the heavy side. This short story will draw you in hoping that you could one day meet and have a Mitchell "Mitch" O'Keefe in your life. Only 65 pages this book brings you into a world which most people have to face dealing with weigh, sex and relationship, family, and friendship.

    Great Read!

Excellent story to read over and over, which I have. I didn't give it 5 stars because the story wasn't long enough.

This story sends a good message that BBW women of a darker color can find love outside of their race. Some people are afraid to step outside of their race. I say do what makes you happy. I've been in an interracial marriage for over 10 years. Both our family and friends get along with no problems.

    Great short story

I've been reading Ms. Nelson Medlov Crime family saga and have enjoyed every book. She did not disappoint with venturing outside of the mafia element. This was an enjoyable short story. Keep up the good work Ms. Nelson.

    Excellent story! Great short read.

I loved the way the author took the time to develop the characters, giving the short amount of time the book has. I like the fact that the main characters developed some kind of close relationship before hitting the sheets. What was really clear for me was/is the fact that NO MATTER your color, it boils down to finding someone who will love you and that you can love. Mitch and LaToya were both loving for that and they found that in each other.

    Nice quick read.

This was a great story; but there could have been more detail and imagery added to make the story longer. I enjoyed the main characters and wanted to really delve into their lives and scenarios. There were some grammatical errors and a lot of run on sentences, but overall I enjoyed the book.

    hurray for big girls

Actually she wasn't a big girl or I guess depending on what you call big girls. This was not what I expected given the title. You will have to read it to find out where the title originate from, want give that secret away. I recommend.

I loved the way the author developed the relationship, which was very refreshing... First,size14 is not fat and fat is not ugly

I was curious about the title but really offended by the basic concept even though I kinda liked the story. Marylin Monroe was a size 12/14..... never heard her described as fat or ugly. And ugly is a state of mind that comes from inside. Ugly girlfriend indeed!! What a rediculous notion . At size 14 women are hot! Ask the guys... and a natural size 38C is sexy. All in all good book .... change the title.... how about finding true love in all the right places? Then I'd rate it 5 stars.
