I enjoyed it but that's because I am very hungry for more from Variant Effect. It's just a small piece of the story, not a story on it's own. I thought it was great though.

For some reason, reviews for "The Variant Effect" are getting posted here (and vice versa). While Variant Effect was an awesome read, this short novella (129 pages) was terribly lacking. Sure, Bohland finally gets his hernias repaired, and the experience is a disaster, but that's about it. References are made to characters from the first book, but don't actually appear. Not sure what the author thought he was doing. Too bad.

Stupid! So far, mostly abut a guy getting hernias removed (no I'm not kidding). Book to be continued, this is only part one. Not worth the read, and I definitely won't be checking out the sequel.

I cannot believe how bad this was! It literally was only about Captain Borland getting his hernia operation. Long pages spent describing the clinic, etc. Also this character is detestable on every level. The author clearly has some talent so I dont get why this novella was written or why he cooses to use this horrible mam as a main character. The only action is at the last 20 pages. Not worth your time or money. It was only worth one star but for some reason when I tried to post a review with 1 or 2 stars it would not take.
