Overview

I wish there was only today, just right now, and no forever.

It seems fitting that I fell in love in Paris, the most beautiful city in the world. And if I pretend, I can almost believe that my life is normal and everyone I care about is safe.

But as long as I’m with Vincent, “normal” doesn’t exist. Gorgeous, charming, and witty, he’s everything you could ask for in a boyfriend—but his destiny is so much more.

Even more terrifying than his destiny are his dangerous enemies, enemies who will kill for immortality. How are Vincent and I supposed to be together forever if we’re always in danger?

I know I’ll do whatever it takes—even if it means lying to the people I love—to fight against a fate that is trying to tear us apart.

Editorial Reviews

Booklist
“Move over Bella and Edward. Plum introduces a world and a story that are sure to intrigue teen readers and will easily attract fans of the Twilight series.”
New York Journal of Books
“Intense romance, action-packed adventure, filled with danger and uncertainty.”
Romantic Times
“Plum’s debut is the perfect combo of romance and thrills, with heart-pumping action that will make you jump and love that will make you cry out for joy. You’ll hang on every word, reading late into the night, waiting to find out what’s next.”
VOYA
This is the second book in the Revenants' trilogy. Kate Mercier is a sixteen-year-old American who lives in Paris with her ebullient sister after their parents' deaths. She is enamored with Vincent, who is not the typical French teenager he appears. As a revenant, he has come back from the dead to die over and over in the place of a human. Their romance is doomed, for as a human Kate will eventually grow old and die while Vincent remains young and handsome. The numa, traditional enemies of the revenants, are without a leader, and the dead expect to be attacked. Kate convinces herself that there has to be a way for her soul mate to grow old with her, so she discovers the mythic love story of a similar couple. Will the numa destroy Vincent, rumored to be the Champion who will destroy the evil ones before Kate can find a solution—or will they vanquish him? Street battles with ancient weapons and treachery from within complicate this fast-moving tale of star-crossed lovers who meet in the twenty-first century, but one has an inescapable connection to the past. Reviewer: Judith A. Hayn
Kirkus Reviews
Another human-undead romance produces some good entertainment in this second of a trilogy involving "revenants" in Paris. These undead creatures have become mostly immortal by sacrificing their own lives to save others. Human Kate and revenant Vincent fell in love in the first book; here they fight the numa, similar but evil undead who plot to kill revenants. Alas, it actually looks like it's fairly easy to kill revenants, despite their "immortality," a bit of a flaw in the book's premise. Kate lives with her French grandparents but spends much time training for combat with the revenants, who have accepted her. She knows that she will age and die as Vincent stays young, and the two seek different ways to overcome that difficulty. Worse, it seems that a spy has infiltrated the revenant community. Plum handles the intrigue and builds tension, ending with a major cliffhanger that should compel readers to the final book in the trilogy. The suspense takes precedence over the romance as Kate follows clues, first to find more information on revenants and then to uncover the spy in their midst. Several of the characters stand out as interesting individuals, enhancing the entertainment value in the story, along with a few good action scenes. Good thrills and intrigue. (Paranormal romance. 12 & up)

Amy your writing is amazing; you never fail to leave me speechle

Amy your writing is amazing; you never fail to leave me speechless! What can I say, I adored Die For Me, & Until I die blew me away. I got caught up in the story from the very 1st page, the romance, suspense, passion, action and drama god I can go on and on, you really get a feel for what the characters are going through and I loved the fact we got to know more about certain people. This story is a bit on the slower side then Die For Me was but it’s perfect, it gives you time to think though everything you get hit with a lot of info in this book (That’s a good thing) and a lot of questions come into play like Will they be able to grow old together without Vincent suffering from the side effects? As these questions come into play so dose a new threat one they will not truly know about until it’s too late. How do you choose between love and life? Until I Die will leave you breathless and if you’re like me well make sure you have a box of tissues you will need them! This book is defiantly a must read!

    The cover:

Okay. This goes to my favorite covers ever section! I still think the cover of the first book is better than this one (I love the reddish pinkish color ;)), but they can't keep the same one now can they?

    This one is gorgeous too!

    The storyline:

    This sequel blew me away!

It was somewhat different from what I expected. There are few things I really don't like about it. Which obviously has to do with Kate (no offense to her fans.).

    What I loved:

    - Amy has a wonderful ability to explore and explain every setting of the story. It was amazing how I could simply imagine myself with the characters surrounded by these amazing settings.

    - The involvement of the characters was great. I loved how each character had a reliable place in the story and everyone was involved, including Georgia!

    - The dilemma in the story is gripping. And near the end, some twists were beginning to come out that I had to question what I read in the previous chapters.

    - The mystery was great.

    - OMG! The action in this sequel kept me going on :D.

    - And finally, the ending. What an ending! I finished this book at 2 a.m. and I was like someone had hit me on the head! I had tears in my eyes and I wished (Still...) I had the sequel! You'll be left breathless!

    What I disliked:

    - The beginning wasn't as good and as strong as I `d expected. It was slow paced and made me somewhat question what was going on.

    - The writing style was somewhat different; there were some expressions that didn't fit the story at all, and it made me wonder that maybe the relationship that Kate wants is mostly physical. In other words, it felt like romance was being forced in the story. The way Kate's character has evolved, I was wondering why for God's sake she was acting so un-lady like (I wouldn't want to see a 17 years old girl give the middle finger to someone who is centuries older than her! No matter how rude he was.).

    Conclusion:

This was the longest review I've written as far as I can remember.

To be honest, I wasn't sure this book would get past 3 flowers (stars) for me. But after almost 10 chapters, I was sold, and I decided it won't get less then four. And then, when I finished the book I decided 5 won't be enough!!!

This book was a mystery and a puzzle to solve for me. I think the way things were made by Amy was the right way since I completely totally trust her.

I love this book, and this trilogy is going right with The Hollow Trilogy by Jessica Verday as my favorite trilogy ever!!!

If you love mystery, twists, romance, novels set in foreign countries and want to experience something unique, I recommend you read this series. You won't regret!

One more phrase: I can't wait for the final sequel!!! Come on 2013, come fast!

At the end of the first book Kate already knows about Revenants

At the end of the first book Kate already knows about Revenants and Numas (the good and the bad guys) and after a very hard time cooping with the fact that her boyfriend, Vincent, feels this strong compulsion to die in order to save human lives the verdict is clear: she loves him and can't stay away from him. But Vincent realizes that after loosing her parents Kate's decision is too much so he decides to compromise: he won't die anymore, even if it hurts him not to do so.

Now, after killing Lucien who was the Numa's leader in Paris, Kate begins to train so she can defend herself (and her sister, Georgia) just in case the Numa want revenge. But it just doesn't happen...

And in meantime Kate and Vincent realize something: he needs to find a way to control the urge to save humans or their relationship won't last too much. Suddenly Vincent actually finds a way, but he wants to keep the details a secret until he can confirm it works... the only problem is that rather than helping it seems it's weakening him by the minute.
So Kate resolves to find a way herself... and the only thing she finds is death.

    Personal opinion:
You all know how much I love pretty covers and Until I Die is definitely one of my favorite covers of 2012. The colors, her dress, the background and the composition make a very enticing job!

The book of course has been in my TBR pile even before I had it and although I liked it a lot I think a touch of more action will make it better. But let me be more specific: the story was good, really good. Some characters had to leave (but we see one of them for a little bit) and new characters arrived to make the plot richer and complicated.
A very interesting fact concerning Jean-Baptiste is revealed and one of Vincent' secrets reaches Kate ears which only make the story more deeper.
But I would have love to see Jules a little more because he is just too cute, too funny and too awesome for his own good.

And the ending... Oh My Goodness the ending... what a cliffhanger! I don't know how am I going to be able to life after reading it! I know I won't be able to eat or breath... (#dramaqueenmuchanyone). So yes, If I Should Die is already in my wishlist and it has a very special place in my TBR also (since the book doesn't even exists, right now there's a pretty paper with the title taking its place).

If you haven't read the series yet then I encourage you to do so, is good, is funny, is different and the way Amy Plum describes Paris will make you feel like you are actually there, walking with the characters.

    Love this story!!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm dying here! I knew dating a Revenant would be very stressful for Kate, I just didn't realize how stressful it would be for me just to read about it! But of course Vincent is totally worth it! Mr. tall, dark, and handsome AND in Paris? *sigh* That's about as perfect as it gets - who cares if he's dead (or undead)? I love the other Revenants, too. They are all so unique & funny in their own ways. Although there is one of them that I never particularly cared for... Georgia is also fantastic! She's so energetic & loyal! I have really grown to love this story. I will definitely be an anxious mess waiting on the next book!

I really enjoyed this sequel to Die For Me! I’m now a big fan of revenants, which I had never heard of before this series. I’m fascinated by Plum’s revenant mythology, so I loved learning more about them in this installment.

In Until I Die, Kate and Vincent are desperate to find a way to make their relationship work. Kate is realistic about their relationship in the long term, and they’re both trying to find a solution that will make it easier for Vincent to live, and age, normally with Kate. Meanwhile the Numa have a new leader, and the revenants are waiting for them to retaliate… so the Numa are a constant threat.

I thought Until I Die was a bit slow to start, but really, I loved being back with these characters in the fantastic setting of Paris! The romance between Kate and Vincent is upped a notch, and I really like them as characters – individually and together. I love the kindred, and how they’re a family. Jules, Ambrose, and Charlotte are my favorite… and I missed not seeing more of Charlotte in this one. Plum fleshed-out all the characters, while introducing us to new ones, and I loved the dynamics between them all!

Until I Die is full of romance with slow building suspense, and a cliffhanger ending I never saw coming… I can’t wait for the conclusion, If I Should Die!

I loved this book! Although, with the ending I'm confused as to how the romance aspect can be continued in the third book. My favorite character won't be in it. this is depressing.
I thought I knew what was going to happen the whole time, but I was wrong.
The ending does seem a little (What's the word...?) Slap-dash to me, it's like deep stuff, then POW!!! it's over.
Over all it is a great book, and I am excited for the next installment.
