She is a mentor for people living with phenylketonuria, PKU, and their caretakers at the nonprofit National PKU Association, NPKUA as a volunteer. When not writing, J.J.Brown enjoys time with her daughters, her adopted companion rabbits and parakeets. She lives and works in New York City.
