Overview

To neighbors, she was the brave single mother...

Raising her five kids alone in a rundown section of Sacramento, Theresa Cross Knorr seemed like the ultimate survivor. But her youngest daughter, 16-year-old Terry, told police another story: one almost too terrible to believe.

But accused of imprisoning her children in a house of horrors...

According to Terry, Theresa--no longer the petite brunette she once was--had turned insanely jealous of her pretty eldest daughters and enlisted the help of her two teenaged sons in a vicious campaign against their sisters.

Of beating, torturing and killing her own flesh and blood...

Terry's gruesome tale told how Theresa had drugged, handcuffed and shot 16-year-old Suesan, allowing her wounds to fester, until the day she ordered her sons to burn their sister alive. Next, Terry said Theresa severely beat 20-year-old Sheila and then locked her in a stifling broom closet, so that when the girl finally starved to death, her brothers dumped her body in the same desolate mountain range where they had cremated Suesan.

She could be one of the most evil murderesses of our time...

It took Terry five agonizing years to convince authorities to investigate her grisly accounts of burning flesh, starvation and torture...of a mother from hell, so sadistic and so deranged, she had become her children's own executioner.

Wensley Clarkson's Whatever Mother Says ... is the true story of a mother, madness and murder.

This book was very good but also sad, I could not believe that a mother would do those awful things to her daughters: one daughter she shot and left her in the bath tub to bleed to death and then burned her alive, another daughter she locked in a small closet until she passed out and died. All through this book I kept thinking 'What is wrong with their mother?! How could she do that to her own daughters?!' This book is sad but you can't stop reading it until the end!

The book was amazing. I could not stop reading it and as I continued to read it, I questiioned myself,'How could a mother do this?' After reading this book, I had to call my mom and tell her how much I loved her, cause I could not imagine being in Sheila's or Suesan's shoes. These are the reasons that the death penalty should not be band. There is no reason for anyone to be tortured and put to death by anyone because they are angry or in rage. I am a God fearing church goer and I love the Lord with all my heart. As being a Christian, I stand firm and say that I am for the death penalty, especially when it comes to innocent children who do not ask to be here.

My first impression of this book was "Wow, how can a mother be so sadistic, cruel, and horrendous to her own children!" This story, tells the story of a mother who burned one daughter (while alive) to death, and left her charred remains in a desert to be forgotten. It also tells the story of her other daughter, who was shot, starved, and left to die in a closet only to be later buried in a box in a remote area. The mother thought she got away with her horrific crimes, but one daughter lived to tell about it. A shocking story of a mother who killed her own daughters, for what reasons, no one is sure. A sick and twisted story that should not be missed!

This book is truly emotional. It made me cry for hours and I could not believe what this other did! Why didn't anyone notice earlier?

As an avid reader of true crime, I found the book to be well written, it holds your attention. As a mother of three, one of them a daughter, I was simply horrified at the notion a woman who gave birth to these children could be so hell-bent on their destruction! She managed to destroy them all in one way or another. If true crime is something you are interested in, this is a "good" read.

I have read hundreds of true crime books over the years. This is one of the few that I have trouble chasing out of my thoughts at bedtime. It never ceases to amaze me how barbaric some people can be. I only hope there is a heaven for the innocent victims and a real hell of a place for their evil murderers.

if you like true crime books, this is a must read. How could a mother give birth to a child and so savagely abuse and kill them, not one but two. And to coherse the son's to partake... how could anyone of any age think that it is ok to do something as to commit a crime against your own sibling and think it's ok cause "Whatever Mother Says"

For the most part this book was ok. There were times where the author went off in left field with details of another case, that I personally felt did not have anything to do with the Cross Knorr case. Also even though for the most part this was a good detailed account of what happened, I felt as those the book was not finished. The last two chapters were dull and again really did not explain much about the Cross Know case. I gave this book (3 Stars) because I felt the book was rushed and did not give the end results of the case.

Was so disapointed with the Author. The end of the book does not state what become of the Theresa and her Son William. Did she received life in prison or dealth sentence? Was William try as an Juvenile or an Adult? What ever happen to Terry? THe younger Daughter? This book was very good in the beginning, but the end was boring about the Dr Wood how a killer work in their mind.Hope Mr Clarkson other book has a better ending then thia ONE?

I read this book in a day. It was suspenseful and gripping, and in the end you have a hard time wrapping your mind around the idea of a parent treating their own children in this horrific manner.

In our society today there are many horrific crimes being committed, many by women who are mothers. This book is one of those crimes of a mother against her children. It is pretty graphic yet engrossing as I could not put it down. It makes you realize how evil people can be in this world and your heart goes out to the children in this story. It reads from a journalistic approach with researched facts and yet has a personal note to it as many of the events that occurred were told by one of the daughters who survived. If you like true crime, this is a must read.

This book was very well written and didn't have me bored for one second! The details were very well explained. If you like kind of sick and twisted books, this one is for you!

It is obvious 10 pages into this book that sooo many people had the signs to step in but never took the time to do it. Every person, neighbor or relative says 'I saw it coming', Or 'I knew something wasn't right', yet they did nothing. Never be afraid to speak up if you see something not right. Our children are OUR future. Who can show them the way but us?? A horrible society is what we all live in. These kind of crimes don't even phase us anymore. That is sad!!
