When The World Outlawed Warby David Christopher Naylor Swanson
This is a masterful account of how people in the United States and around the world worked to abolish war as a legitimate act of state policy and won in 1928, outlawing war with a treaty that is still on the books. Swanson's account of the successful work of those who came before us to insist that war be outlawed points us toward new ways of thinking about both war and political activism.

This book reminds us of a forgotten treaty between many nations in 1928 that outlawed war . The world Powers agreed to resolve their disputes pacifically. Unfortunately the leaders of the world did not adhere to this simple treaty. If they would have there would not have been any wars after World War 1 and millions of lives would have been spared. Let's hope that this book will start a new movement for all nations and peoples to go back to this agreement and begin to adhere to it before it is too late. I am calling for a new treaty to be signed in the UN outlawing war once again in our time called the National and International Peace Every Day Treaty For Global Truce and Global Cease Fire. This book gave me the inspiration to suggest this and the belief that it can be done. I am advocating to all the world leaders just as the book describes that the US Secretary of State Frank Kellogg and the French foreign minister Aristide Briand did in their time. This book changed my life and I had awarded this book and David Swanson with the First Winner of The Going For A Global Truce Peace Contest Prize.I hope it inspires more and more leaders and peace advocates around the world to strive to reach for a global truce and the adherence to a treaty that outlaws war.
