Overview

Stepping off the train in Sweetwater Springs, Montana, Elizabeth Hamilton is filled with relief, nerves, and the thrill of hope. Life on her dear friend’s ranch will be very different than Gilded Age Boston’s high society. But at least here, Elizabeth is far from her spiteful sister-in-law and the bittersweet memories of her late fiancé.

Nick Sanders has loved Elizabeth since he first glimpsed her portrait — not that he dare admit it. A ranch hand has no call to woo a well-born lady, especially when she’s being courted by the town’s finest gentleman. Yet there’s something in her mix of courage and compassion that won’t let Nick quit.

In Wild Montana Sky, Debra Holland’s acclaimed USA Today bestselling romance, Elizabeth faces the hardships and dangers of the West with resilience that surprises even her.

Stunningly crafted, Golden Heart Winner Debra Holland captures the reader's imagination and heart in Wild Montana Sky.

Although deemed a sweet, Western, Holland expertly builds emotional tension and passion. Nick Sanders, the slightly younger hero, is divine.

Unlike other novels based in a similar time period, Holland's tale features many of the hardships without the unnecessary heartache. Also she fuels the reader's emotions-and honestly made me cry.

I absolutely loved this story. It was beautifully written. While reading this novel I felt like I was actually there experiencing the beauty of wild Montana. The characters were refreshing and each of them was truly unique. I felt connected to these characters in a way that is rare in a novel. The love story completely captivated me and I found myself routing for their love until the very end.

I throughly enjoyed the novel and would definitely recommend it to romance lovers.

"I'm not usually into western romance books but I must say I really enjoyed this one. It is very well written and I loved the characters. Even if you are not into western romance books but love those easy read books then I think you might like this one."

Meet the Author

Debra Holland began writing fiction when she briefly dated a young cowboy. One day she speculated that if they had lived 100 years ago in the West, their relationship might actually work. That idea inspired Wild Montana Sky, a Romance of America Golden Heart Winner and a USA Today Bestselling book, and led to an ongoing series, The Montana Sky Series. Book Two, Starry Montana Sky is also available on Nook, and Book Three, Stormy Montana Sky is a work in progress.

Debra's love for Jane Austin and Georgette Heyer, as well as many other traditional romances, led her to keep the series "sweet" rather than sexy.

The characters in Wild Montana Sky came alive for me. It was a pleasure reading about a 19th century heroine who behaved like a real woman of her time, with strong emotions and physical reactions but no inappropriate sexual involvements. Not only did I care deeply about Elizabeth, but Nick also felt three-dimensional, a real man as well as a hero. Debra Holland has created a textured story with believable period details. From the start, I was caught up in Elizabeth's dilemma as her manipulative sister-in-law made her home unlivable. Her experiences in traveling to Montana and adapting to an entirely different way of life made for an engrossing read. And the author maintained the suspense, both about the relationship and about a seriously ill child, right to the end. Fans of traditional romances as well as Little Women and Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman will enjoy this book.

I loved this sweet Western romance. The beginning reminded me of Sarah, Plain and Tall. Remember, Sarah leaves home because her brother marries and there's not room in the house for two women? Well, Elizabeth, the heroine of this book, faces the same dilemma. She decides to visit her bff in Montana, and as a Boston society lady, Elizabeth is appalled at what is allowed and encouraged in the west. I loved her transformation from the society lady to the western rose, the woman who realizes what she think she wants and what she really wants and needs are two different things.

The book has good parts that had my heart racing but when the ending came, it was half a*s work....The ending is obvious of course, but HOW it's written and expressed is the key to it's previous writing....I mean, come on. Its supposed to be a romance and make hearts gush. The ending is supposed to be the most gushable. Didnt happen.

If you loved the Hallmark Channel Series "Love Comes Softly" or if you enjoy reading wonderful love stories, then you will fall in love with Wild Montana Sky. Elizabeth and Nick's story will warm your heart. A great read from beginning to end. Can't wait to start Starry Montana Sky.

This novel was definitely nothing earth-shattering. I feel like I've read a hundred books just like it. Maybe the familiarity is what makes it almost comforting to read. Entertaining, if not original. Nice characters, and I appreciate that there was no vulgarity. That can be hard to find in a romance these days. I enjoyed the setting, but could have used a little more historical authenticity. Overall, enjoyable light reading.

I was hooked from the beginning and could not put it down. Never thought I would read westerns but so glad I read this one. I must confess I already read the sequels and enjoyed them too. She has so many stories to tell from all the characters she has created in this book alone. She can't write them fast enough for me.

This is my favorite type of book, though I'd never read anything by this author. I could picture the scenes in my mind, and to me that is one of the things that make for a great book. I really couldn't put it down, and read it in less than three days. Looking forward to the next in this series...really glad I stumbled on this one!

This old fashion romance is very charming and kept my interest. The story was not the usual and so there were unexpected twists in the plot that kept you reading. I enjoyed the sweet innocent romance of this couple.

I really tried to stay interested but stopped reading it half way through. Too many details about unimportant surroundings. I was waiting for an "ah" moment thinking it was leading to something. I archived it without finishing it. Maybe another day.

Author has done amazg job andvthe story provides an overview of people in 1800 lived their life. In todays life there is no hardships but back in those days people had to work very hard to tie both ends

Gave up after two hundred pages of eastern bred sensibilities and shuffling cowboy. Story is 350 pages too long.

Wonderful story, enough mystery to make you not want to put the book down. Characters seem real, description of scenery makes you want to visit Montana.

Surprisingly mediocre............................................................................................................................ Can't begin to imagine how it got such good reviews. Elizabeth is dull as dishwater. Though she does shoot a grizzly bear in the end. One shot straight to the heart. with a revolver yet. Yeah, sure. Nick is way too good to be true. Caleb is an obvious turd. Over 600 pages of drivel. Truly disappointing.
