    Best of the best

    Winnetou and Old Shatterhand are two of the noblest characters ever to grace world literature. May masterfully captures the essence of what it means to be good, fair, and forgiving. Moreover, although he never traveled abroad before he finished the bulk of his work he spices up his tales with travel information he gathered from reading first hand reports. He certainly made me more curious about foreign lands and foreign peoples and inspired me to travel.

    Awesome

    I started reading Karl May books when I was about 8 years old. Ever since then I have been fascinated by the accuracy of the places he describes, yet never visited once. Unfortunately the selection of translated books by him is very limited. I'd like to mention too, that several of his books eventually became screenplays and then movies, however, only in German.
