Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Cecily von Ziegesar's Gossip Girls have bantered and battled through multiple volumes, but fans still wonder how the Blair/Serena/Nate love triangle really began. It Had to Be You: The Gossip Girl Prequel unlocks that mystery and several others. Suffice it to say that this backstory will reconfigure your sense of the Gossip Girl galaxy.
Children's Literature
The second book in the "Gossip Girl: The Carlyles" series picks up with Baby being allowed to stay at Constance Billard, and a lot of drama. Baby's "punishment" is to work on the school's literary magazine, where she meets kindred soul Sydney and the two become fast friends. The only problem—Baby's boyfriend JP does not exactly fit in with her new bohemian friends, and when Avery loses her hold over popular Jack, her social circle falls apart… except for the old ladies on Constance's board! While Owen continues to pine silently for Rhys's ex-girlfriend, Rhys plans to get her back, but one little date auction will change all of the Carlyle's relationships for better or for worse. Like many of the "Gossip Girl" and "It Girl" novels, there is too much under-age drinking without consequences, so readers who are uncomfortable with those situations should be aware before picking up this series. "Gossip Girl" fans will nonetheless eat up this newest addition to the collection, and new fans might find their way into the series along with the newcomers, the Carlyle triplets.
