M. C. Beaton

Hailed as the "Queen of Crime" by The Globe and Mail, Scottish author M. C. Beaton (1936-2019) wrote the popular Agatha Raisin series as well as the Hamish Macbeth series. Writing under the name Marion Chesney, she was also the author of many historical romance books and a series of Edwardian mystery novels.

Marion Chesney was a romance and mystery author who wrote her mystery novels under the pen name M. C. Beaton. She wrote romance novels under a variety of other pen names including Ann Fairfax, Jennie Tremaine, Helen Crampton, Charlotte Ward, and Sarah Chester. Her most popular mystery series were Agatha Raisin and Hamish Macbeth. The Hamish Macbeth series is comprised of 34 books and 2 companion books. The Agatha Raisin series is comprised of 31 books plus a few short stories. Both series were adapted into television shows. She wrote three standalone novels under M. C. Beaton: The Skeleton in the Closet, The Education of Miss Paterson, and Ms. Davenport's Christmas. Some of M. C.
