One of the sexiest aspects of a romance novel can be a contract. Okay, you might be going “What? Contracts are not sexy. Lawyers write contracts.” Well, I am here to tell you why the contract-romance is in fact highly erotic: because it involves two people, brimming with passion…but that passion is tempered by negotiations, and of course, whether or not they fulfill the contract directly relates to whether they can be together. Or, of course, the opposite: a contract exists where passion does not, and two characters are forced to deal with one another. That is, until love begins to find a way between the lines (and the sheets.) Here are some romances with contracts that will make you re-think how rules can be sexy.

Reaper’s Property, by Joanna Wylde
