Golden: The Best Harry Styles Inspired Reading List

Clearly we would be amiss, if this wasn’t our first HS pick. With Harry going to star in the movie adaptation of the story of Tom who marries Marion and they both are besotted by, and share, Patrick. 1950s Brighton just got a little more interesting. With a book description that has both the words “passionate” and “tragic”, we are all ready for this roller coaster of emotions.

Styles has been quoted in Rolling Stones stating that his second solo album is “all about having sex and feeling sad” and what a perfect way to describe Sally Rooney’s explosive novel.

Harry has oft been seen carting about Charles Bukowski who serves as deep inspiration for Harry’s Lyrics. Bukowski is raw, open and often misogynistic which Harry clearly isn’t, but if he can separate art from artist, maybe we can give it a shot. Not to mention, the cover of this book gives the vibe that it would look great with a number of Harry’s styling outfits.

Joan Didion serves as another inspiration for Harry and we can see why. Not only does this book have style (1960s Hollywood), but it dives into deep emotions and the ennui of contemporary society. It has been said this book captures the mood of an entire generation, which might be exactly what Harry is also doing.

Not only is author Rob Sheffield a music journalist but, maybe more importantly, he is a long-time friend of Harry Styles. This book reads like an album, composed of the author’s life in love and loss told through some of his favorite mixtapes. Makes you think of your own mixtape, undoubtedly consisting of a mashup of Fine Line, Harry Styles the self-titled album and some 1D thrown in for good measure.

Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. What more could Harry want? Therefore, what more could we want? And if this Taylor Jenkins Reid book isn’t enough, Malibu Rising has all the Cali vibes that make it Harry’s home away from home.

Let’s just say we’ve heard certain things have inspired Harry once or twice. Being open-minded seems to be one of Harry’s character traits, and this book is part of that experience.

This book has love. This book has art. This book is quirky. If Harry hasn’t read this book yet, he should. It also serves as the perfect back-pocket recommendation in case he ever graces a B&N store with his presence and falls madly in love with whoever recommends this book because clearly, we just get him, based on this spot-on recommendation.

If My Policeman and Charles Bukowski had a baby, it might just come out as something like Howl. It is short and magical, just like my imagined time with Harry Styles will probably be. But it will make for great writing material.

It’s the B&N Book of the Year and may one day be Harry’s as well. Paul McCartney’s lyrics have inspired Harry in the past and no wonder. Not only are the two from the same country across the pond, but they both have been part of heartthrob boy bands a generation apart. Harry Styles is the Paul McCartney of this generation. We can’t wait for the 2071 release of Harry’s own Lyrics.
