Build Your Child’s Library with 6 New & Classic Box Sets
As readers of all ages know, there is nothing as satisfying as polishing off a book, rolling over, and having the sequel right at hand. I remember the eons-long gap between new Harry Potter books, and while the anticipation was fun, it is so much better to be able to dive right into the next one. Box sets are perfect for young binge-readers-in-training—and they also have the wonderful perks of being easy to clean up (just put them in the box!), easy to put away (just put the box on the shelf!), and easy to keep together in a set. It is pretty obvious that everyone should own all the box sets of everything. If you’re not sure where to start your kid’s box set collection, here are some suggestions.

Things get even crazier in first grade, which comes with its own set of eleven books. Both collections have plenty of extras (more paper dolls!), and adorable coordinating cover art, that isn’t only fun to read but attractive to look at. If you have a fast reader who can never be without a book, these sets are worth every penny.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid Box of Books 1-8 + The Do-It-Yourself Book, by Jeff Kinney
No young reader’s library is complete without the Wimpy Kid, an antihero who is as funny as he is relatable. This set contains the first eight books in the series, which is the perfect introduction to Greg and his exploits. To encourage fans to do some journaling of their own, it includes The Do-It-Yourself Book for fans to live out their own Wimpy Kid fantasy.

I adore the Star Wars world that Jeffrey Brown as created. When we read Vader’s Little Princess to our daughter, my husband and I could’t stop laughing—and crying. Since then we have been reading all of his books, and the Jedi Academy series is a must-read for fans. When young Roan is sent to the Jedi Academy instead of pilot school like he hopes, his live is put on a different path—and he meets Yoda and the many other stars and creatures of the Star Wars universe.

You read it as a kid, I read it as a kid: and now it’s time for our kids to cherish this timeless series. Based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s childhood, the Little House books introduce young readers to our frontier history, a time of simple games, self-sufficiency, and plenty of wild encounters. This box set is so good I can see parents everywhere re-reading the books themselves long after the kids have gone to bed. Or maybe that’s just me.
