Rivaling Romances
With rivalries competing on the basketball courts, we couldn’t help but have a tournament of our own, except this one is actually one for the books, particularly romances! If you follow us on Twitter, you might have an inkling of what this might be, but for those of you who don’t, we’ve been asking about some of your favorite romance tropes. We’ve narrowed down the list to your top four tropes and favorite books for each trope. And now? They compete!
Below, you’ll find a bracket, and while basketball does its thing, we’ll be hosting our own competition on Twitter. Download the bracket, fill out what you want to happen, and then on the days of each round, hop on Twitter to vote for which book you think wins each pairing. After each round, we’ll update the bracket in this post with the winners!
Which books will be your favorites for each trope? And more importantly, which trope will be the overall winner and Romance Champion? Keep checking back to find out!
The Competing Tropes
We have four divisions of 16 romances competing, each of them a trope that you loved! So, what are they, you ask?
Enemies to Lovers
Ever popular, enemies-to-lovers are books full of a protagonist and love interest who start out hating each other’s guts! Of course, throughout the book, that hate starts to morph into a different kind of strong feelings ;). *swoon*

Forced Proximity
Oh no! There’s only one bed! These tales of people trapped in close quarters with one another often involve the slow burn that results in romance. From living under the same roof, to road trips and more, these books are full of lingering looks and feelings growing into something new.

Workplace Romance
Hmmm, HR might need to get involved with some of these. Full of spice and office gossip, these romances take place among coworkers and often involve furtive glances across the office space. Hopefully, company policy won’t get in the way of these budding romances!

Fake Dating
Are they really dating?! These alliances are full of non-romantic partnerships evolving into confused feelings as two people adjust to acting romantic without the intention of it being anything more. By the end, will they figure out what’s real and what’s pretend?
