Skottie Young’s Image Comics Must List

Image Comics turns 25 this month. To celebrate, all month long Barnes & Noble is offering a free Image title when you buy two. If you’re looking for suggestions on what to pick up next, we’ve got you covered: we’ve asked some of the top creators in the business to let us know which Image titles are on their must lists. Today, we’ve got 6 essentials from Skottie Young, the twisted mind behind the Image title I Hate Fairyland as well as a host of Big Two work.
Spawn, by Todd McFarlane
One of the first comics I was able to buy from Issue 1. I loved when new Spawn issues came out.
The Maxx, by Sam Kieth and William Messner-Loeb
Sam Keith’s art won me over. You can still see his influence in my art today.
Ships in 1-2 days.
I Kill Giants, by Joe Kelly, and JM Ken Niimura
This is one of my favorite comic books of all time. I cry every time i read it. If you don’t, you’re a robot.
Ships in 1-2 days.
Southern Bastards, by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour
It’s like Friday Night Lights if Coach Taylor took a big stick and beat peoples clear eyes and full hearts then ate BBQ after. All made by two of the comic industries best creators.
Black Science, by Rick Remender, Moreno Denisio, Dean White, and Matteo Scalera
I love Quantum Leap when I was a teenager, throw in a dash of Lost in Space and A fantasy quest and you’ve got a great book on your hands.
Ships in 1-2 days.
East of West, by Jonathan Hickman and Nick Dragotta
A sic fi western by Hickman and Dragotta. Nothing else to say.
