This is the best dog training book I've used! I've had dogs all my life and have tried multiple methods to train them. Kyra's approach, and the illustrated step-by-step method, really helped me teach my dog new tricks. It was so easy - even a beginner could do it. My dog learned easy tricks usually in 1 session (though it takes a couple practice sessions to ensure good repeat performance). Using positive reinforcement (clicker and treats)training was like a game that we both looked forward to. There are so many tricks to pick from in this book, I was able to find useful and fun tricks for my dog to learn - and we have lots of material for future training/game sessions. This book is fun, informative, beautifully illustrated and the techniques really work!

I think this book is really worth buying because I start training my dog tricks, and then I just kind of drift away from it for awhile, and then I come back to it. You can't really do that with a library book! It's like a reference book! I love the variety of tricks and pictures! It must of took forever to take those snapshots!

101 Dog Tricks: Step-by-Step Activities to Engage, Challenge and Bond with Your Dog, by Kyra Sundance, is an excellent dog training book. Sundance describes each trick fully, and the photographs that show the steps are extremely informative. Each trick is labeled as Easy, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert, and Sundance shows how you can combine various easier tricks to teach the more advanced tricks. The book starts with a very brief introduction that describes the best way to train your dog to do tricks - do short sessions, keep them upbeat and fun, and use treats and/or a clicker to keep your dog's motivation high. Sundance also describes how to transition away from using treats, and gives some pointers about how to work training into your schedule. In the back of the book are a few helpful lists: tricks by skill level and tricks by sport. Plus Sundance lists 50 additional tricks with ideas of how you could teach them - not only is she showing the reader how to teach their dog tricks, she's also showing how to build on the step-by-step instructions she's given so that the reader can use the skills to teach any trick. This book came highly recommended to me from members of a dog training Internet board I read. I've only just started using the book to train our dog, Brix, but so far Sundance's method has made it extremely easy for me to break down the trick and focus on gaining success with each step. I think this is going to be a great book, and teaching tricks will help keep our sometimes too-smart dog's mind engaged and continually working on new things.

Easy directions and engaging photos show you how to work with your dog to master a variety of tricks. Sundance explains how to start with the basics and then flow several steps together to accomplish the more complicated tricks (like fetch a soda from the fridge).

This book is great for newbies to dog training. Very Helpful! Has lots of pictures! With troubleshooting! Has a section on how to teach you dog to play hide and seek! And teaches your dog to help you with modern day conviences, like shut the door. Also will help you teach your dog hiusekeeping, like tidy up your toys, go get you leash, etc. Overall very great book. You get successful results. No false advertising here!!!!! That's for sure! Like I said, I taught my 4 month old Mini Australian Shepard (sorry if I spelled shepard wrong, which I probably did) to sit in one day/training session. He is 7 months going on 8 months old now, and sits like a pro!! I very highly reccomend this book!!! No doubts!!!
