We have all heard stories of "Great Christians", but seldom have we heard how frail and human they really were. We often picture them as super human or super gifted and not at all normal, human or frail. Many of these people risked ridicule, shame, torture and death to stand for what they believed. This book has helped me to realize that great Christians are just ordinary people like you and like me; they believed in the power of the Gospel to change themselves and the people around them. This book has helped me to believe that God's power to work in our lives is just as available today as any time in history. The only thing that limits God's powewr in our life is me, myself.

This book has introduced me to a number of spiritual giants that have faithfully served the Lord. It reads well as a daily devotional since each chapter is on a different person, but be forewarned that once you buy this book, you are going to want to read many more books as a result since each chapter recommends additional books -- to include more in-depth biographies, autobiographies, and writings by each person.

This is a little Treasure Chest for Christians of today. In here are the true stories of ordinary people that lived everyday lives that were as diverse and 'common' as you & I. More than likely, a large portion of these people will be new to you. If you have heard of them, perhaps like me, you've heard someone mention a name & wondered "why do I suddenly feel like I'm the only one who lacks a key piece of info?" It's hard to apply the lesson if you are missing a key ingredient This book has helped me to understand the reason many of today's Ministry/Church leaders quote or make reference to them when they are speaking. They are &/or could be great examples to us. Most, if not all, truly understood the meaning of "surrendering all for Christ's sake"! The treasure in this book will be different for each of us. So many different backgrounds & types of people are shared. I believe you will be able to find that person that resonates & inspires you. However, they all share this one commonality. These people are all SHINING examples that prove God can & will work through anyone he chooses. With these diverse examples we gain the knowledge & the power to grow and blossom where we are planted. There are seekers of God's grace everywhere, we don't need a degree in theology to be 'worthy', we need only to step out of the Spirit's way! Just let your 'little light' shine. He does the work. For me, there is no greater joy than to experience the Holy Spirit at work and be a witness to the process by which He calls, reveals, & saves another one of His own. I pray you take the time to read this & be further inspired to travel along His path. God bless you.
