8 Steps to Achieve Your Destiny - Lead Your Life With Purpose by Dr. Samuel Chand is a little book with a lot of wisdom. It is a helpful tool to assist leaders in developing and strengthening their abilities to successfully run an organization of any type or size. One quote from the book that I liked is "To make progress, leaders have to make strategic shifts in their attitudes and behavior". If you are looking to hone your leadership skills, this is a good book for you to read. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.
8 Steps to Achieve Your Destiny is a 176 page book by author Samuel. Chand. This small but mighty leadership book is published by Whitaker House. Author Chand uses experience and personal, true stories in his book to aid leaders in learning how to better achieve their destiny. His book is divided into eight topics to assist leaders. These topics are: New People (identifying characteristics and learning how to work with them), New Pains (change makes it, embrace it), New Places (where you wish to go and how you will get there), New Perspectives (new ways to see things and find mentors), New Priorities (defining how to reach your goal), New Passions (excitement as things change), New Preparations (habits and skills), and New Possibilities (risks and opportunities). Each chapter focuses on a new change that leaders face. Using encouraging, realistic suggestion, author Chand offers ways leaders can benefit and move forward through change. At the end of each chapter are "Teaching Points" and illustrations. This book would be good for not just leaders but those working on a committee or dealing with change. Sensible advice is offered to help cope with and deal with change. It is written to be easily understood. The author has a nice writing style. He has researched and organized the book well. He talks about relying on God. It is a nice leadership book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a book on leadership or help with change. I rated it a 4 out of 5 stars. I was given the book by Book Fun (The Book Club Network) and this is my honest review.
This little book is a great resource for any leader in any type of organization, including churches. This book was a very easy read and very informative. This book is written in 8 chapters and helps the reader to prepare for any unforeseen problems possibly arising in an organization. Samuel R. Chand also shares some true-to-life stories in each chapter. Even though I am not a leader in an organization, I really enjoyed the practical tidbits in this book. I would highly recommend this book to a leader in any type of organization. I received this book from bookfun for my honest opinon.
This is a great resource for company leaders and church pastors and boards. It covers the ways and means for an organization to grow. Each chapter defines one area that organizations need to deal with along with how to achieve the individual growth goals. The subtitle for this book is Lead Your Life With Purpose. In the introduction the author leads off with strategic shifts. Then he develops the topics of “new…” such as people, pain, priorities, passions, and possibilities to name a few. This book is worth reading, sharing, and discussing with other leader friends.
“In 1973, who would have thought student Sam Chand, who was serving Beulah Heights Bible College as janitor, cook, and dishwasher, would return to the same college in 1989 as President Samuel Chand? Under his leadership, Beulah Heights became the country’s largest predominately African-American Bible college. Today, Dr. Sam Chand is a former pastor, college president, and chancellor who now serves as president emeritus of Beulah Heights University.” Page 165 of the book 8 Steps to Achieve Your Destiny. Dr. Chand has a passion for teaching others about leadership and has written a fine book about what he has learned. Dr. Chand uses real life examples to help make the book more alive. At the end of every chapter are Teaching Points. This is a very helpful tool and a review for each chapter. This whole book is very good and very informative, but there was one section that really caught my attention. This section is on page 96—Ask yourself the following questions at the end of every day: What did I learn today? How did I grow today: What will I do differently tomorrow? I found these questions not only a help to my leadership development, but also my every day development.
