About the Author

Steve Newvine lives in California and is a Senior Program Manager for a California utility. He is married to Vaune and has two grown daughters: Alison and Colleen.

Upon graduation from Syracuse University, Steve started work at WICZ-TV in Binghamton as a news reporter. He followed this job with stints as a weekend anchor, space science reporter, Executive Producer, News Director, Senior Producer and Special Projects Manager for several TV stations in the eastern United States. He left broadcasting in 1994 to become President of the Livingston County Chamber of Commerce where he worked for ten years. In 2004, he became CEO of the Fresno Chamber and in 2006, became the President and CEO of the Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce in California. He now works for a California public utility.

Steve met Vaune Trautlein while both were attending Herkimer County Community College in 1975. They managed a long distance courtship as when she transferred to another college and he headed for Syracuse University. She entered the job market first as a speech therapist. One year later, Steve went to work at an NBC-TV affiliate in Binghamton as their general assignment news reporter and anchor. They were married in 1980.

Daughter Alison was born in 1982 and daughter Colleen was born in 1984. Steve and Vaune raised their daughters in Avon, NY. In 2004 Steve and Vaune moved to California to start their next phase of life together.

Steve has written and produced award-winning documentaries and has been cited by the Associated Press (Best Newscast, Best Documentary) and the Public Relations Society of America (Best Electronic Tool). He has written op/ed pieces for the Rochester (NY) Democrat and Chronicle, Fresno Bee and Merced Sun-Star. In 2006, he was commissioned to write a chapter for an upcoming book about the life of comedian Jack Benny.
