CHAPTER 1
While you sleep, Little Love, the stars will come out
and join with the moonlight to sparkle about.
The darkness will settle like blankets of gray
as God welcomes nighttime and tucks in the day.
each sunflower tall will nod its bright head
and fold every petal down into its bed.
The crickets will fiddle, the fireflies blink.
The bullfrogs will ribbit. The owls will wink.
And then mama bluebird will sing her last peep,
quiet her babies, and nest them to sleep.
While you sleep, Little Love, your kitty will purr
and gather her kittens to snuggle with her.
You wiggly puppy will finally rest.
He'll curl at your feet, feeling happy and blessed.
Your mommy will quietly sit by your bed.
pull up your covers, and kiss your sweet head.
The nightlight will shine upon you and your bear,
and Daddy will hug you and whisper a prayer.
So close those bright eyes while you dream, Little Love,
for God never sleeps and will watch from above.
