About the Author

A graduate of Lesley College and the University of Vermont, Cathy taught in an elementary school, directed a daycare center, and owned a children's bookstore.  In addition to writing, Cathy teaches at Georgia Military College in Augusta, Georgia, and works part-time at the Augusta Jewish Federation.

Along with the typical features of most parks, there are several unique multicultural additions as well, such as djembe drummers and bougatsa treats. The collage-style illustrations are particularly colorful and eye-catching. Diverse people appear on all the pages, and a list on the back cover of the book notes what is depicted alongside each number, providing further context. Specific cultural festivities are vividly depicted, such as Juneteenth or the Dragon Boat Festival. This book would be an especially enjoyable selection for any family or summer reading event, and is perfect for infants, toddlers, and even preschoolers.
