Names for Light: A Family History

Thirii Myo Kyaw Myint is haunted by what she cannot remember. She traverses time and memory, weighing three generations of family history against postcolonial violence and racism as she revisits cities in which her parents and grandparents lived. But while her family's stories-which intertwine oral narrative with the official and mythic histories of Myanmar-move into the present, her own story moves into the past, until they meet in a new light.
