About the Author

Marion Seidemann Fredman was only six weeks old when Apeldoorn, Holland, where she and her parents were hiding from Hitler’s Nazis, was liberated. They immigrated to the United States when Fredmon was just two years old. She has passed down her and her parents’ story to younger generations in her family but now wants to share it with the world. She lives in Berkeley, California.

Elisa Kleven is the acclaimed author and/or illustrator of over thirty children’s books, including Sun Bread, a NY Times Best illustrated book, The Paper Princess, and Abuela, by Arthur Dorros. For as long as she can remember, Elisa has loved creating imaginary characters and miniature worlds in her stories and art. Elisa lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family.
