Red is a twenty-two-year-old pool hustler in Southern California in 1987. A bartender by trade, she serves drinks during the day and haunts the pool rooms at night, taking on all comers.

Along the way, she meets Frank the Barber, the best player on the West Coast. She dreams of being the best, and to do that, she knows she'll have to beat him.
