The African slaves that arrived in Jamestown in 1619 were not arriving in the United States of America they were Spanish slaves arriving in Jamestown, Virginia a British colony. Yet, when the thirteen British colonies declared their independence from England, the offspring of those slaves remained as slaves, thus beginning the most shameful and horrendous period of the United States of America's history.
