I’m Kathy Bennett. ?A little about me—I worked for the LAPD for twenty-nine years. Eight years were spent as a civilian employee, and I served twenty-one years as a police officer. While most of my career was spent in a patrol car, I also worked at the police academy as a firearms instructor, promoted to the position of a field training officer, then worked in the “War Room” as a crime analyst. I promoted again, this time to the position of Senior Lead Officer—where I was in charge of a basic car area within a geographic division. I’ve done a few stints undercover and was honored to be named Officer of the Year in 1997.
In my spare time, I started writing romance books. However, I wasn’t really cut out to be a romance author—I’d forget to write the romance, but I was always killing off one or more characters. After a few years, I realized I’d better write what I know: Authentic Crime… Arresting Stories. (Yeah, that catchy phrase is a part of my brand.) One of the books in my Deadly Thriller series, A Deadly Blessing, was chosen by Barnes and Noble as one of the best original books of the year.
I live in Idaho with my husband and soul mate, who is also a retired LAPD officer. We have two entertaining and energetic Labrador retrievers, and two cats who aren’t nearly as active or amusing, but they’re loved just as much. I like to garden, exercise, and spend time with our daughter and her family. Life doesn’t get much better than the one I’m living.
